Oh, that's actually water, but it is because of the low settings. That is what the water in this terrain would look like without any reflection. I'll see what I can do about it anyway. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I changed the reflective cube map to blue sky and turned off full reflect, so the water will look like this for everyone next release.

Man you sure were right about this being good for drifting. I like to take the Grand Marshall Drift Missile (Boosted Power Version) and take it down the whole mountain in 3rd gear. I'll upload some pics later if I remember.

This is a great map. Overall I feel like it could have more detail, but I've yet to try version 1.1. I like it a lot more than your super stunt track because it's more accessible but still challenging.

I've had a lot of fun taking the D15 Sport offroad for shortcuts. I think it'd be great if you added in some dirt paths where they could work.

A tiny gripe, and it goes along to your first map, is that the folder names you choose for your terrains are unhelpful when trying to clean up one's level folder. All of the other non-official maps I've downloaded have folder names that fully reflect the maps' titles.
Instead of doing stuff like CM_M22, you could do CorkscrewMountain_M22. I know it's small potatoes, but it'd definitely be helpful, especially because it'd tell me right away to keep Corkscrew Mountain in my level folder. :D

More detail in what way ? I try to keep the vegetation minimal since it currently kills the framerate so much.

I like your idea about adding dirt road shortcuts ! Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll take the directory naming into consideration for my future releases.

It just seems like you're not utilizing the terrain as well as you can. There's not a lot of rocks, signs, etc. The tarmac seems too bare and clean and could use some tire-mark decals. and the aforementioned dirt roads are another example of utilizing more of the terrain.

Also, now that I've tried 1.1, you're not going to like it, but I think the tree placement is a lot worse. IMO, first version was fine (but more trees wouldn't have hurt. I know fps is a concern) and the way it is now, it's hard to tell what's coming up on the track. Within the first two turns there are tree branches dangling quite low over the track. Also, the trees feel unnaturally placed along side the road, which looks ugly compared to before. I'm going to drive around 1.1 to try and notice your other fixes, but so far, I want to take 1.0 out of my recycle bin.

    edit:

Another consequence of the trees; the track is a lot less forgiving. Before, I used to get very lucky sometimes because after sliding off the track , I'd be able to get back on without flipping over or tumbling down a hill. Now when I slide off the track, I hit trees. Even when I wasn't lucky I could still watch the car tumble down. It's a lot less frequent of an occurrence now because I'm getting stuck on trunks.

yeah, can't make it through one corkscrew without having leaves and branches flashing through the cockpit. Going to 1.0

Nah, it's OK. It isn't dangerously hot or anything like that.

I'm an amateur when it comes to the actual terrain. I'm trying to sculpt dirt roads in Corkscrew Mountain and I can't even shape them the way I want to. I don't have much of a method or technique at this point. It's all trial and error.

I agree that the trees are unnaturally placed. I'll adjust that.

Oh, I know man. It's too hard for me. Remember, I'm giving you my comments because I really like the map. :)

Also, if you need an idea for your next map, I have one. You're good at making the smooth, mesh tracks. You should make a lapping circuit with your crazy corkscrews and full of high-speed, banked turns.

I figured out a good way to get solid looking grass covering the whole terrain without a big drop in FPS, so that'll be in version 1.1. The trees will be completely redone also. Those two things alone will make the terrain look much better, but i'll see what else I can add without junking it up.

The next release will just be aesthetics since I really need to practice that area more anyway. No changes to the mesh will be made, but I took Ltp0wer's advice and tried to make the terrain look more natural. Here's a couple screenshots of what I managed to do with minimal FPS drop. It only dropped about 5 - 10 FPS.

I may try to make some dirt roads that intertwine with the asphalt road, but, I don't know. I'm not very good at that yet.

I just uploaded version 1.11. Although it's basically just a very big visual upgrade, the added rocks also make falling down the hill more entertaining.
