I don't believe that it's going to look like any of those. Some time ago we got this picture. I don't know or remember the source, but from what all I dug up, this image appears to hold ground. I speculate that it may look like the 2004 concept, albeit tweaked for a 2020 production run. The shape of it does line up a lot with the shape of the tarp. I've also wondered if the recent appearance of the 2004 concept in Rampage is anything to go by.
I'm not really that pumped for the new Bronco. Personally, I think that the Bronco badge should stay in the history books, because car companies have brought back badge names before, and the new model is either awful, over the top, or bland. An good example would be the 2002 Ford Thunderbird. Ford stopped production of the Thunderbird in 1997. The revamped model looked hideous, the retro-futuristic styling was awful, and it didn't sell well. Ford stopped production all together in 2005. I fear that the Bronco will face the same fate.
I doubt so. It's probably going to look like a F-150 SUV, like the last gen of the Bronco where it had F-150 underpinnings for it's design.
Sorry, but I disagree. From what all I read, that teaser of it under the tarp is actually from Ford. Nothing in that picture to me screams F-150, but it does scream 2004 Bronco concept. I can't say anything about the underpinnings though. If the teaser I'm talking about is anything to go by, that is absolutely inaccurate. They also said that it's not going to be an Americanization of the Everest either.
If not the F-150 underpinnings, it's probably going to share Ranger underpinnings. I doubt it'll look like the 2004 Bronco concept besides the shape (almost, but it also kinda looks like a Wrangler as well).
That's actually what I've heard, that it will share the Ranger T6 underpinnings. And again, I do believe it will probably have a design inspired by the 2004 concept, but altered for its 2020 production. I got four reasons for this way of thinking. 1. Being identical to the 2004 concept would make the design pretty old and outdated. It would need to be refreshed. 2. Since when has any vehicle looked 100% like their concept counterpart? 3. Once again, the teaser indicates a strong possibility of it having a 2004 inspired design. 4. If it's going to be a Wrangler rival, it needs to look like one, and IMO, a Bronco that looks like the 2004 concept could easily take the Wrangler on.
I'd prefer it to be a more modernized version of the last gen Bronco (5th gen), as retro designs most of the time fail (hell, Ford tried that with their Thunderbird and failed miserably). The closest things I can think of is the Acura RDX (new gen), Ford Atlas (which was basically the new design for the F-Series), BMW Z4 (new gen), Nissan Kicks, a few Honda Civic concept cars from 2015/2016, Ford Ka, and Ford S-MAX.
TBH with you, I don't think that would work. Also, not all retro designs fail. The Dodge Challenger would be my example of how to do a retro styled car. Eh, you got me there.
I literally said that in my post by saying "most", not all. I don't see a problem with that IMO. Ford is often experimental with their design though, so it could also look like a completely new vehicle with a boxy look of a Bronco. Some of the listed designs did have a few changes in production form, but you can see a lot of similarities (or sometimes it'll almost look like the same vehicle at times, like the RDX). It's not impossible to share designs from their respective concept car, but I would agree that they would have to alter the design considering the most recent Bronco concept car was in 2004, not a few years previous (often 1 to 2 years from their production form).
It's the same brand that named their European MPV similar to a old full-sizer, and having all of their new F-Series have C-shaped headlights (each in different styles though). Modernizing a "F-Series SUV" design doesn't seem farfetched TBH.
I could be wrong but... "the sixth-generation Bronco will be a four-door mid-size SUV derived from the Ford Everest" Oh god please no, we already have enough crossovers and mid-size SUVs...
