I enjoy putting cars on trucks and driving them around but it's lame that I can only do 3 cars at a time whenever I do it so I had an idea that having an auto carrier in the game would be fun to mess around with and crash and be able to carry more than 3 cars at a time. Having 3 cars on the front half of the semi and 5 cars on the trailer would be fun and the cab of the truck can be based on the trucks that are already in the game. AND it would be cool if it could also be a delivery mission with getting the cars to the destination without crashing
I can usually spawn about 6 cars before it starts to lag but it also depends on the map. I think it's mostly because of the laptop I've been using
That is quite well for a laptop actually I hope that future game versions will improve things a bit, so that one actually could use this kinda of car hauling config, currently there is probably not so much interested of creating such as I doubt there is any computer that would run it, but probably in a future things will change. Physics wise one could run 8 cars, semi a and trailer just fine, but graphics side of things are kinda hard for CPU currently, well that depends of course. These were only things I could find from repo, not sure if there is some forum mod: https://www.beamng.com/resources/car-transport-addon.2520/ https://www.beamng.com/resources/two-wheels-car-transport-trailer.1083/ Can't remember seeing anything like in first post though, if someone finds such, it would be interesting to see if it works or if it can be made to work with small fix.
The main issue with having car carriers in a truck, mod or not, is that the cars just wont stay there. Either the physics engine makes tires too slippery when a car is stationary over something, which is a possibility, or this is how realistically cars would move over a platform, and we just need a realistic way to fasten the cars on the trailers.
Node grabber strength to 0% and then coupling some nodes works somewhat, increasing to 5% and it starts to damage things already, but holds car better.
Nah, Node grabbing to remove links again is a mess since you need to remember exactly which nodes were grabbed. I already tried that method. Its "functional" but not ideal. I AM more interested to know if the car moves from a platform realistically compared to real life of a car moving in a flatbed without any harness or security equipment holding the car in place, although im 80% sure most flatbed tow trucks dont let the car be there.
Yeah, need to have pull forwards and backwards and preferably cross pull to sides, when load is secured well it stays even there is a small crash as it can't build momentum. I wish too that there are better securing methods, also I think I did suggest some improvements to node grabber that might help to use it as such, but that was long time ago. Winches and stuff too. Also I think that I sometimes suggested rope/chain to have hydro for tensioning, it would be nice.
This is one of the points where i wonder if this is what contrarians meant with RoR allowing for a lot more customization than beamng does.
The problem is the nowdays we can't attach vechicle with stropes to the platform. (The same thing with wheel lift tow truck, you can't attach wheels to it). As soon as we will have attach system (not Node Grabber, some button for stropes like in FS 17 button F for stropes on log trailer), we will have Auto carriers and tow trucks.
