Very cool feature, but I thought I saw the cars burning oil when on the planet. Was I mistaken? Does the gravity work on the fluids in the engine at the moment, or does that feature still need more work/is it possible to implement?

The pickup was parked for a good time up-side-down without issues.
It started smoking while driving, I suspect the such small radius at that speed was pushing the fluids up (you can see how it was leaving tiremarks everywhere because it was skidding/detaching from the ground) :D

Planets are sphere shaped, should be flat.

    Very disappointed. ;)

Are the gravity points only aviable to nodes, or can you also use them as a map object?
(I know that you can just freeze a node in the ground)
Also can we get an option to enable abd disable the gravity to the node with input (simmilar to hydros)?

Also would it be possible to extend this feature into some sort of an electromagnet? If so, I have an idea for a good working strap system for flatbeds.

Wow this'll be quite a bit of fun to mess around with :p
Nice work, I'm actually excited for the upcoming updates for once instead of dreading them (because modding ;))

Question: Is the map itself still flat?

If so then that would be correct because it has been proven that Earth is not a planet, and is indeed flat
    /s

I don't think that there would be a point to making the main map round, if thats what was planned. Unless of course the plan is to merge all of the maps into one which is extremely unlikely for obvious reasons.

Cool, so this means that all maps could have a very subtle curve added without negatively affecting the physics!
At 5km from you, the object should be 2m lower than now.
This effect gets stronger and stronger with more distance, so assuming an insane view range, this could make a very nice difference for the biggest of maps!
Curved maps would also be required for the most accurate possible physics, as the faster you go, the less gravity will be will be pushing you into the tarmac!
The effect on physics would obviously be absolutely TINY, but it does sound like a nice bragging point when it comes to what Beam simulates, and other games don't :D

Are the gravity fields only limited to those planets or will jbeamed objects have them as well?

Can gravity be applied to non spherical objects? would be fun doing a Phobos recreation.

Hell yeah! this is really really awesome!
All I can think of is recreating this somehow.

So this can be recreated! YES

There is Mars and Moon already, also there was a space map as well as Saturn rocket, seen also Tesla or two, so with refined physics I'm sure Elon Musk will be interested, after all it is much more practical to do few simulator runs to flush out bugs, NASA surely hopes they could of had possibility before ramming their expensive stuff into side of Mars :p

Did i miss a post here where someone actually announced planets being in development? Multiple gravity-wells are cool, but still a far-cry from a galaxy simulator. You'd at the very least need orbits....

We just need to put huge blackhole at the center, then about a 0.1 trillion stars around that, with some 0.5 trillion planets, spin it a little for starter and wait a while to system to settle for stable orbits.

There is minor challenge of floating point precision that starts to be kinda bad at 20km or more from the origin, but this we can solve by downsizing our model to fit to 5km by 5km area.

Size of said Tesla might then make it bit hard to actually spot it, but I'm sure it's nothing Microsoft magnifier won't solve, I hope :p

I sure hope performance optimizations will be successful as I have invested heavily on this to find a way back home, my last attempt of simulating universe did face slight performance problems...

That won't take ANY time to load!

Fun fact, that's why KSP's universe is 1/6th scale. They dealt with the exact same issue. 32 bit Unity couldn't handle the numbers involved originally.

You DO have a few other options. KSP is a whole lot of fun, Universe Sandbox even lets you throw planets at eachother and, http://spaceengine.org/ Proceduraly generates a whole universe down to the planet, like No Mans Sky... but not like living in a cartoon.:D

No soft-body physics in those though.
If someone made a game where a asteroid left a giant crater in a planet i'd have pre-ordered it the day it was announced.

Orbits would be possible to be acheived and stable, at least in the low orbits.

As long as you have gravity spread over a sphere (Or any shape) orbits will be possible with enough sideways momentum, as it will be easy to miss the planet because the curvature is to such a high degree.

You could probably go a certain speed in a car, jump off a ramp, and get to orbit.

    1/10.625th scale, actually.
    Kerbin = 600 KM
    Earth = 6371 KM

Wouldn't work. Any stable orbit requires a circularization burn at apogee. You'd also need to be doing several thousand MPH.
Good luck getting enough traction on a low gravity world to go even a fraction as fast anyway.

hunh. thought it was 1/6 never actually checked.

It wouldn't be circular by any means, but if you went a specific speed, and hit the ramp so you still had enough speed after, you would be able to go in orbit. You already were in orbit before, you can do that by going fast enough that your wheels don't touch the ground, the ramp just pushes you up into a higher one.

Suborbital. Assuming you could get sufficient traction You could certainly launch your self miles or even hundreds of miles high but, without some apogee burn your eventually going to hit the ground. You could probably mount small boosters to do it, but not exclusively with wheels.
