I need help with a mod I'm making, Its based off the 1994-2001 Ram 1500 and I plan to have it fully fledged out with interior/exterior based on realistic properties, what I need help with is the coding! I have a lot of the early learning done, the model is in game, but there is much work to do, I have to finish texturing it and making it look good! What I cant figure out is the coding for the tailgate as well as extras, at the moment the bed and cab is attached as one piece but that can be changed extremely easily for me, I do have modding experience for Farming Simulator so the mesh work and coding isn't too hard for me to understand! That being said, I am adept at blender so all that is the easiest part for me to do at the moment. Help would be greatly appreciated, and if someone agreed to partner up with me to make this mod then the credit would be split accordingly! As soon as I get some photos of the mod in its current state they will be uploaded here to show progress as well as bring in support and help from the community!
That's about the best I can manage without help LMAO, getting things to show up and be animated is what im having trouble with. the steering wheel for example, I have no idea how to add it and make it turn, the parts either show up or they don't, I have to have them named specifically to the mod I put mine over as well and I would like to change that so its truly unique.
Ah! The Dodge wheel doesn't show up with the truck, to add it I have to have torrents of script pages and the knowledge of corresponding the coding with the mesh of the model lol I may complete it someday, for now it has to stay in the super early alpha stage!
Thanks! And that's the plan, to have this offroad baby spotting front page on all the reviews lol having engine and wheel options along with optional beds and cab accessories! But first I must learn and learn hard!
Good luck! Please don't forget to include proper credits in the first post (ie. original author of the 3d model and so on)
Wow! For a member who just joined today, that's some fast work!! --- Post updated --- When the model is done, I would suggest a cumins diesil
Animated things are called props: https://wiki.beamng.com/Props You really need to open official vehicle and spy how it is put together, how props are set up etc. For example speedometer needle is 3D mesh, a prop, it can be bit tricky sometimes to set up properly as there is no logical explanation why sometimes those numbers need to be completely different than some other times, like sometimes you adjust 100, sometimes 0.0001 for the same effect. For setting origin properly see this: https://www.beamng.com/threads/how-to-incorporate-a-steering-wheel-into-a-car-mod.41532/#post-624838 Especially nodes and beams are something you really need to learn and practice, BeamNG is totally different from anything else in this regard and it is extremely rare that you can find someone doing jbeam for you, it is a lot at first, but take it in small pieces at time, practice making small objects and you will do fine: https://wiki.beamng.com/Vehicle_Creation_Megapage jbeam exporter for Blender is good to have, makes life lot easier. Advanced one: https://www.beamng.com/threads/blender-addon.56981/ Good point of that is that you can actually import jbeams you exported with it and if you do remove comments and adjust formatting, other jbeams can be imported too with that one. Older simpler one: https://wiki.beamng.com/Blender_Exporter_plugin
I've thought about doing that, just haven't thought of a good name for it yet! --- Post updated --- Honestly I have no idea what that even means, I don't know anything about "Repo"/"Non-Repo" LMAO but I do understand his advice!
When the model is done, I would suggest a 94-01 gavril d series? If so when it's ready, I would suggest changing the grille.
Yes, I'll have to fetch that information down and add it! I was planning on having it in a txt file in the mod directory! --- Post updated --- YAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! What are we celebrating? LMAO --- Post updated --- Thanks, but I have been working on it for like a week! And having experience previously modding another game MASSIVELY helps! --- Post updated --- I have opened the standard pickup and seen how it was put together, I think my main issue is knowing how the game calls the separate parts. Also you can import/export jbeam files in blender?????? I was using Notepad++ to do that LMAO! As for the "props", guess its another coined phrase I'm gonna have to pickup, modding for farm sim we typically call "props" animated parts! The origin I somewhat understand, the rotation and location hex has to be all set to 0, while the actual part itself can be moved in edit mode to place the part where its desired, if that's wrong then I blame inexperience lol! And thanks for all the advice, and links to helpful articles, I'm gonna put those to use right away! --- Post updated --- That has rolled around in my mind for a little while, Honestly it doesn't really fit, the D-Series looks a bit too much like a Chevrolet and the masses have already decided that the D-series was built in the "1990s". I may go completely out of the ballpark and call it something like the Kludge R-Series or something, the emblem in the grill can be changed when I decide! Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll keep thinking it over!
try Bruckell 1500 or throw some animal name in there I could probbably help with Jbeam after getting my 1980 bronco mod fixed up
I'll have to look at the in game Bruckell closely and factor that into the options, and the preferred animal name is already taken, that's why I have to change the name LMAO! Dodge Ram is just the perfect name for the truck, its hard to find something to compete! I would like something that I could add the same meme "If You Can't Dodge It, Ram It" just with different words! And if you can that would be greatly appreciated!!! As for your Bronco I noticed the one engine you added hung too low and was too far back into the firewall, its the one that starts with a 3 (Don't remember the actual engine title) and the textures for the interior are low res, besides that its a pretty good mod, gonna enjoy jumping it off ramps and chasing it down in police cars! LMAO
I started it over because when I started it 2 years ago I had no clue what I was doing and it got to the point that it was completely useless and had may more problems than the original russian mod, the I6 I added was a placeholder I never got around to fixing although if I can get decent at blender I want to do the rest of the broncos from 1987-91(my truck) and 1992-96(OJ mobile)
