Heyyya! Sorry for not posting any progress over the last couple of weeks. I've been pretty busy (again), and have mainly been focusing on trying to get the sliding door system to work. It's still not perfect, but it's definitely coming along rather nicely, I think! (=´∇`=) The door is tied to the lights right now (because I'm lazy), but it will have it's own key binding in the final version. Also, it does look kinda silly right now, since the door pretty much just floats next to the van, but I'm going to try to tweak that a bit and bring it closer to the side of the car. The only real reason it's so far away is because I was running into some issues with it early on when it was too close, but I think I can resolve that now. Anyways, not a very long progress update, I know, but things should only get easier from here! Except for possibly the interior... ( ु⁎ᴗ_ᴗ⁎)ु.。oO
At least it works --- Post updated --- Wait a minute... Is the door opening when you turn the headlights on? Is that because you have not set a proper keybind?
And honestly, I'm happy that it does even work now (although I'll certainty be improving it before the final release). This is what it looked like early on in development. (*´꒳`*)
Its so satisfying seeing it actually function. I cracked up watching it for the first time, as it looked like it was jamming and had to be forced open, but the proof of concept is there and looks like with some hair pulling, that should really be awesome. By far, this is one of the mod cars that I use the most.
So I've never really liked the front fascia on the Kashira, especially since it looked far too much like the Pessima, so I've started to change it up a bit more... It's obviously not polished out, like, at all yet (especially the foglights...), but I think it looks a lot better! Also I still need to fix the whole a-pillar area, aaaaaaaaa And here are some comparison photos between the old Kashira and the updated version... It's already looking soooo much better! ೭੧(❛▿❛✿)੭೨
I would suggest grabbing some cues from the '96 Pessima and sort of rounding everything out, i guess. It is a mid 90's car after all, looks a little boxy to me. That's just my two cents, though and you don't have to take my suggestion if you don't want to
Maybe instead of the tail lights going up like the irl Honda CRV equivalent, it should go across like the irl Odyssey equivalent since the resemblance is closest to how Honda manufactured it themselves. I would, however, like to see if you could have the lights face-lifted so that they are on the trunk like the 99' and above Odysseys.
The new Kashira looks like that instead of being a replacement for the old one it could actually be a sort of major facelift (as in the car changes a lot but it still is considered the same generation), similar to what happened to the 4Runner.
its a minivan, the headlights are supposed to be big and doofy lol i think its coming along super well!! one thing I noticed, the A pillar going down to the mirror and fender looks a little wonky, maybe tighten that up a bit? a bit of polish, so to speak?
yes i know the headlights are supposed to be big but in my opinion i think they should be less tall and more wide like the 2000 odyssey
So I was kinda going for a somewhat boxy look (at least boxier than like the first-gen Sienna), but I see what you mean about the newer Pessima. I looked at the dates though, and the new Pessima is actually quite a bit newer than I thought. The old one is 1988-1991, and the new one is 1996-2000. So there's like a weird gap between the two generations, which we can infer there was another generation of the Pessima. This is pretty close to the time period I was planning for this version of the Kashira (1994-1998ish), so theoretically the styling of the Kashira should be similar to that of the imaginary 1992-1995 Pessima. Since we don't actual know what this Pessima looks like, we can infer that it would be fairly similar to the Honda Accord from around the same time, since the Pessima shares a lot of visual cues with it. So basically, I redid the front-end again, and based it somewhat off of the 1995 Accord: I also modified the front fascia a bit, and tied the grille parts into the colorable trim, and it looks reaaaaally nice now! (。◝‿◜。) I see what you mean, the vertical taillights on a minivan is a very unusual design, but that's part of the reason I like it. It makes the Kashira a bit more unique than your average minivan. It also somewhat resembles the Honda Stepwgn, which I took a lot of visual and design cues from in this update. The Kashira is kinda my take on a Stepwgn-esque vehicle. A practical, small-ish, minivan, that is also kinda sporty. I mean, at this point, I've kinda changed so much that it's pretty much a new generation. The shape is still pretty similar, but that's not too unusual for different generations of the same car, and I'm probably going to be smoothing out the entire a-pillar area a bit (which is part of the reason I've been putting off fixing the other issues with it). I'm going to be redoing most of the interior, so that should look different as well. The standard taillights on the updated model look pretty similar to the old ones though, so that's kinda weird. Overall, I still don't really know how this new version will fit in with the old one. Honestly, I'm kinda inclined to completely make this a new gen at this point, and upload it as a separate mod, but it's still kinda too similar to the old one to do that, I think. And I don't want to completely overwrite the old Kashira, but I may end up doing something like uploading it as a "legacy" version, and being like "hey, this is the old version of the mod. It doesn't really fit into the canon of the Kashira, but you can still download it, if you'd like!" But yeah, I really don't know, haha. (๑>◡<๑)
