The Jaguar XJS coupe. Plus it doesn't have the stupid Gold Firebird graphics either.

I guess it takes a certain person to enjoy the graphics, however I don't understand how you Americans can squeeze just 210hp out of a 4.9L turbocharged V8.

Cafe standards is the answer, we could've push out 350 horses with a 375 cu in, but insurance and the oil boycott ruin that.

I get that, what confuses me is why American motor companies didn't investing other smaller, more powerful engine layouts with less emissions and better economy, instead of just sticking to a heavy, under-powered V8?

    1. Lower costs.
    2. What layouts do you exactly mean?

Also, the 205hp 1985 Ford Lima engine. Turbo 4 banger from the Mustang SVO.

I guess it didn't stack up so well if the 302 was still used in more cars.

    Wow 205 horses, a 1986 F-250 with a 385 have more horses than that.

Ah, the good ol' Iron Duke. 2.5L Fuel-Injected I4, 110hp.

The engine layouts I was talking about were, yes, Inlines, but also smaller 90 degree V layouts, Boxer engines and opposed piston layouts.

Only 15 more, and that is from a big-block.

There were no good performance V8s in the 80s IMO.
