Fair enough. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/188?vs=88 it's definitely better, but I still wouldn't consider either ground breaking. Though, it does male me feel better knowing that my relatively new gpu still has a little headroom left in it.

Comparison to the fx 8320: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/698?vs=88

    Comparison to the I5 4670k: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/698?vs=88

The main thing I noticed with my athlon is that it really struggles in the physics department when compared to the phenoms. It only runs up to 60-70% CPU usage, but it seems to peaking on a single thread while doing that.

That 760 is actually a pretty good card, but if you want to buy another with a little + or - performance, then go ahead.

I've gotten it up to around 19-20GB. Combination of web browser with a lot of tabs, photoshop, premiere pro, a couple virtual machines and other misc programs.

Damn, that's good. I need more. I only have 4GB in a 32-bit OS, so it's more like 3.5. I usually have like 15 browser windows open, Blender, BeamNG, and anything else I may be doing. I have 350 MB free right now, LOL. I keep putting off installing a 64-bit OS.

Interesting to hear you actually utilize it. Some people get 16GB for gaming and end up using only 3 or 4 max.

I bump up against the limit of 8Gb a lot... but I can't justify getting more at the current costs..

Yup. I only game or render or encode at once, but I do a fair bit of messing with files and stuff. I thought I'd managed to royally mess up some of my minecraft code and introduced a memory leak. Turns out that 1.7 is horribly coded for the extreme world type. With optifine doing +32 chunks and AA and AF I'm using 6.83GB of RAM and all 2GB of my 770s VRAM.
I was looking at a 16GB kit anyway.

I'm upgrading VERY substantially soon, but my current rig is

    Intel 2140 @ 1.6 GHz
    4 GB of Corsair XMS
    Sapphire HD3850 2GB

I know it sucks but I am getting a nice rig once I come across the money.

You can allocate more RAM directly from MC launcher.
