Pripyat is somewhere I always wanted to visit. Crazy weird place if you look at it on Google Maps, u can see the new reactor cover that was completed 2 years ago and the old ferris wheel and stuff, mega creepiness

What's really scary to me is that they even have the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone open for tourists, when it's been said that it's going to take 20,000 years for the place to detoxify and become safe again.

I wouldn't go there unless I was allowed to wear a radiation suit, because I wouldn't want to get f'ed up by all that radiation that's been leaking from the plant's reactor since way before the USSR even fell.

You carry a Geiger counter when you are there, meaning you can keep track of radiation levels. If radiation levels get too high, you turn back. However, I somewhat doubt that they let you in areas where the radiation levels are likely to get beyond safe levels.

Well last time i took my camera swimming, i think the case had a leak on it, it kept misting up on video, and now i took the camera out, and it's corroding!! Even on the suppposedly plastic parts, theres a rust like substance, and i took the battery out and it was still wet, baring in mind that the camera hasn't been used for about 2 months :p

The SD card is not playing ball either, there was corrosion on it, and i scraped it off, but i think some has got inside my reader. So i put it in an SD enlarger thing, and it works in the fullsize bit of my reader, and is happily copying over at around 80MB/s.

What "Safe Levels" mean is that people could live and reproduce without any longterm problems.
Chernobyl is still very unsafe near the Reactor core, but radiation tends to spread and detensify away from the source.
You could probably stay in the outskirts from the reactor for quite a long time unprotected and not suffer longterm damage.

David Hahn, a young boyscout into chemistry, created a functioning nuclear reactor in a shed in his backyard.
The neighborhood for some time (I don't know, but probably atleast a few weeks) experienced 1000+ times the normal amount of background radiation.
Radiation like this put people in danger of cancer and other radiation inhibited illness, but even higher then usual amounts, for a few hours probably won't hurt you.

The places tourists are allowed to visit have been thoroughly cleaned. A trip to these places gives you less radiation exposure than an x-ray examination or even a plane flight.
There are people who have been living in the exclusion zone for decades, and they are still doing well despite 24/7 radiation exposure and consuming locally grown or caught food.

That made me remember watching this video. The part I remembered most is where they visited the hospital toward the end.

Why did he think that was a good idea?

Yeah, but even going to the more unsafe parts for a little while won't hurt most people with proper precaution

He was just insanely curious with nuclear energy and he became obsessed.
Then he got bored with just making models.
He also had a dream of being a famous nuclear scientist.

He was thinking irrationally of course.
He was later years after the incident arrested for stealing smoke detectors.
He had sores all over his skin from prolonged exposure to radiation.

He was paranoid, depressed, and diagnosed of schizophrenia.
    Interesting fact, as wikipedia quotes:
"Hahn was paranoid of people that he claimed "had the ability to 'shock' his genitals with their minds""

Some people stateside have a thing for making nuclear reactors in their back gardens. Usually followed by the FBI turning up, and confiscating most of everything they own.

I remember reading a series of forum posts by some dude in the US who was developing a nuclear reactor. It was quite an interesting read, way above my pay grade in terms of technical details. Gotta say though, I wouldn't be so pleased if it turned out one of my neighbours was building one.

I also remember reading this article too... https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...mexico-but-hijackers-expected-to-8986394.html

I made a new profile picture today...

I know 'Bongo Cat' is pretty much a dead meme and I copied Nadeox's old profile pictuture, but I was bored... And I'm actually pretty happy how it turned out considering it only took 20 minutes to morph 3 images together and swap around some colours.

    My original profile picture:

Which do you think is better??

I love the new one! It's more expressive.

Work has been kinda crazy for me lately, getting ready for Christmas and other stuff. But at least I settled in to my new place in an apartment. It's awesome!

In BeamNG, I'm continuing to focus on traffic scenarios. I'm planning to do an overhaul of my traffic script, in which traffic won't need manually placed "spawn zones". It's gonna be a challenge to implement, for sure. But it will be more useful for anyone to use.

So, as usual, I ordered my (second) breakfast at the cafe downstairs...

Got it with one of these as a complimentary gift...

Either that means I eat too much or that I have too many toy cars... :p

Hooked my Echo up to my stereo, now I can actually listen to music and not cringe at the bad quality. It sounds nice.
