That is true about rust, I'm pretty certain a Renault 4 wouldn't hold up very long in the infamous Rust Belt :p
However I'm fairly certain that a R4 or 2CV would be far easier to maintain, regardless of weather, than a Yugo. The Renault 4 and 2CV are known for standing up to all kinds of abuse and still running flawlessly, and the yugo quickly gained a reputation of poor reliability in the USA, to the point where they made jokes about it; no chance the yugo was ahead of the now classic french cars in terms of build quality.

With the treatment Yugos got, it's no wonder.

Also, you're talking about durability of French cars and reliability of the Yugo. Apples and oranges.

The yugo came with rear window defroster to keep your hands warm when you pushed it home.

I've seen how people in my country take care of their cars; whatever the Yugo got, I doubt the french cars here didn't get aswell :p
Also, durability and reliability are correlated - A car that gets abused and still runs well for a long time is by definition reliable, it's hardly an apples-oranges comparison.
(Note: A car that is reliable is not necessarily durable; for example, Audis are known to run for a very long time if taken care of, but if you abuse them they'll have a very short lifespan)

What do you mean? How does the american perception of reliability differ from the european perception?

A car that needs repairs often but can last a long time if they're done properly is rather durable, but not reliable.

bruh, im still knowing that the legran is kinda a bad car but the reason is how unsafe it is! (in my opinion.) but I agree there should be some bad, even horrible cars in-game. also theres already a mod that's a horrible version of a car that's already out, but sorry idk how to put links down in comments, sorry.

The Wendover is based on the GM H-Body (Pontiac Bonneville, specifically), basically a bigger A-Body (LeGran).

And contemporary press called the H-Body a cheaper Audi alternative.

    This thread is fantastic.

Somehow we went from saying the LeGran is not a bad car - You can customize it! You can replace anything that makes it a bad car from the factory! So it must be good! - to saying GM cars in the '80s were competitive - A lot of them are still running today! Well, so are a lot of similarly crap cars of the time. Crap cars are often built to last. That makes them durable, not necessarily good - to saying the Yugo was comparable to its rivals - which were actually the Peugeot 205, the Renault Supercinq and the Fiat Uno, all head, shoulders, torso and tighs above the discarded FIAT project that Zastava built on a budget. And, by the way, a lot of 2CVs and R4s are still going strong today as well...

I'm not sure where I have ended up, this all is so confusing

Any car is actually a bad car, think yours is good? Let me just borrow that for 15 minutes... :D
