I have a GTX 1070 coming soon and I'm thinking of getting a 4k monitor at some point. I'm just wondering if anyone plays beamng at 4k and if so... what GPU you are using and what your experience is like...
Overclocked 1080Ti is needed. Or something faster. When your 1070 comes, choose 4x in this, that will render game at 4K and then downscale it to monitor, but it works only full screen and you will get pretty accurate experience of what kind of performance to except with 4K: My 1080 non Ti is not fast enough for 4K and at least for me fluent 60fps is much more important than 4k.
Thanks, I'll give that a try once my 1070 comes... I guess it makes since when you have to push 4x the amount of pixels as 1080p. Still thinking I may want a 4k monitor for screen real estate... and for game that can't handle it.... should be able scale down to 1080p cleanly... This is my plan at least...
Well, monitor would probably work for next GPU and CPU and maybe BeamNG will run with your current hardware better in a future too, can't lose there
I have the Asus MG28UQ 4K monitor and a 1080 ti that is overclocked and it can run almost all modern games at 4K 60FPS with high to ultra settings. 4K gaming is sweet, but if you don`t have the money for a 4K 120/144Hz monitor you are stuck with 60FPS which can be annoying if you play First person shooters. I play PUBG and sometimes i regret not buying a 2560X1440 120/140Hz monitor instead. If i where to buy a new monitor today, i would buy a 2560X1440 140Hz monitor and rather save money for the Asus Rog Swift PG27UQ and wait for the next gen GPU`s (not RTX).
I have an update. I got my GTX 1070 and bought a 4k monitor from my friend for a good price. I ran some tests and at least in beamng... it doesn't run to bad at 4k even at max settings... on beamng's larger maps I seem to get average around 46-50fps. at the most demanding times... I can see lows in the high 30s... which I can notice.. I found that changing some settings in game to lower, I can get an extra 3-5fps. but believe it kinda takes a away from the extra detail gained from 4k.... so I don't see the point doing so... So if I really want to gain fps... rather just go back to 1080p... high everything else. But overall playing at 4k on beam isn't too bad.
I've gotten to 50fps on the 1070 at 4k. It's not nearly as hard as you'd think we even CPU bottleneck starts to lessen at that point
SSAO and dynamic reflections off is helping a lot to get stable FPS with 4k. I had accidentally BeamNG running 4k, I was just wondering if my eyesight is improving as everything was so crisp and nice, then I noticed GPU was working quite hard
