You can have a 2 stroke flat 4. This one isn't going to be a 2-stroke engine, though.

 

2-stroke flat fours work, 2-stroke boxer fours are much harder to get working. you have to build them much differently, to accommodate the crankcase.
A flat four 2-stroke would look something like this:

not lined up as properly as a 4-stroke could be, and the balance of the engine would be affected. there isn't much reason for a 2-stroke flat engine, because it would weigh more than an inline 4, and it wouldn't offer the balance benefits of a traditional boxer 4.

 

I’m just hoping for some interesting (less than sensible) engine options. I don’t really have anything specific in mind, I just want something weird.

I heard somewhere that Nadeox said the update may be coming by the end of this week, and if it doesn't, there still isn't much work left to do.
