This topic is about building and developing my Mk2 Focus for BeamNG. It will be the phase 1 model (pre-facelift).

This post will be kept up-to-date with all progress and/or updates.

    Current progress: (5 May 2021).

    3 Door 3D model: 95%
    Textures:
    50%
    JBEAM: 70%

Wagon and 5 door models are on hold as I want to focus (ha-ha) on a single car/model.

    Body:
    3-door hatchback
    5-door hatchback
    Wagon

    Engines:
    Petrol:
    1.4 (74hp)
    1.6 (99hp)
    1.6 Ti-VCT (113hp)
    1.8 (123hp)
    2.0 (143hp)
    2.5 (inline 5, 222hp)

    Diesel:
    1.6 (89hp)
    1.6 with improved turbo (113hp)
    1.8 (113hp)

Addons or more customizable options are being made.

    Thanks to:
@thomatoes50 for helping with the gauges.
@Capkirk for creating the engine characteristics.
Body is based on a model from http://www.dmi-3d.net/, but has been extensively modified, updated, cleaned and ~75% of the parts are scratch built.

Oh wow.... didn’t mean to start a big discussion...

@SHOme1289, I understand where you're coming from, as I also noticed many projects are cancelled. Maybe you're right and I'm way too ambitious as a first-timer, but I'd like to try anyway.

I do think I’m going to model a simpel car to learn al the beamng stuff (jbeam, texturing etc.) which I can later use for this Focus. But as modellen takes quite some time, I’ll keep building the Focus.

Anyway, I started over from scratch today after doing some more research, and after a couple of hours I managed to create a decent looking hood. Quite pleased with it to be honest. I'm going to try and build each part seperately to prevent any major screw-ups while working on another part of the car! Now off to do the next part!

Edit: starting to form a bumper as well

Thanks to the moderators for cleaning up this topic! :)
Any other modders on here who made the car first (in one piece or seperate parts) and after this the JBEAM structure?
In the tutorial the author started the other way round. https://wiki.beamng.com/Introduction_to_Vehicle_Creation

great job cleaning up your poly flow, looks much MUCH better now. Keep in mind to have all the polys somewhat uniform if you can.

Going to start with the standard 3-Doors variant first, and if I get that one working as it should, then maybe the 5-door and wagon variants as well. Maybe even the ST version, but that’s for something in the future ;-)

You should make the models first, because they then will be the base for their jbeam

Nice, the MK2 is my favorite Focus
are you gonna make different versions like a 3 door hatch, a 5 door hatch, station wagon
and are different engines in the planning? i would love to have diesels and petrols, i could record a nice diesel sound for you if needed

@Cody Kamminga see my previous post ;-)

Same goes for different engines, I’ll look into that when the car itself is finished.
