So I figured it might be cool to post a random screenshot or two every couple of days. Sometimes we might show what we're working on.

Looks great! Does glass have two stages, cracked and shattered, or did you just simply choose a cracked texture for the front window and a shattered one for the side windows?

Only one state, so yeah, the latter. But we're going to redo all that and add breakable lights.

Out of curiousity, by that you mean you can make a texture switch to an on-state texture, and at the same time be able to switch it to a broken texture? That sounds real nice to make realistic lights!

Also, I've noticed when I used an animated texture for on/off-state light textures in RoR, when it's night, the on-state texture will still be dark, rather than a brightly lit-up texture. Is it possible in Cryengine 3/BeamNG to make it more like in, say, GTA San Andreas, where the on-state texture is not affected by the dark? (Then again, I've also noticed in RoR that on some well done trucks, the textures do light up properly in the dark, but you get my point).

Yes, CryENGINE has very nice glow materials so the lights glow quite nicely at night, and you can control how much they glow. We're currently working on a new material switching system that'll allow for smashing glass, smashing lights, working lights, and anything else that might be useful. Right now it's sort of hacky, allowing for one state of smashed texture OR working lights, but not both.

Wow. The Ibishu looks awesome but different. It looks greyer (maybe just the lighting) and a bit more rusty and worn. Also, did you change the headlights or something? It looks a bit different from the front. Maybe it's just me...

Well that part is obvious ;) but the shape looks different. The Ibishu in the video looked like it had narrower and longer headlights. Maybe just me.

I can assure you the only thing on the Ibishu that's changed since the video is the color and the addition of the interior.

    also, I hit something

Looks amazing! Love it! Is it simply the dirt on the car or the lighting causing the car to look so brown-ish?

Also, one very tiny remark: Tire threads with a rotational direction(Ie the V shape) like the one in the screenshot is supposed to face the other way, it should always face down from the front. I know it's such a tiny remark that this must seem like nitpicking, but it's been bugging me since forever in lots of games, especially since I work in a tire shop, but I suppose it should be just a case of flipping the texture or mirroring the wheel objects. I like how the thread is facing the same direction on both sides though, one other thing that so many games just don't care about :p

And I think it might look better if you leave the grill(attached to the hood, not the radiator in the crashpanel) open, possibly, unless that's a really amazing normal map...

EDIT: Oh, and one other thing: I think it's a good thing you're not using damage textures for the metal yet, however I don't think it would look bad to use it on the black plastic bits(ie rubstrips, mirrors). As you know, whenever plastic like that bends or breaks, it turns white(I'm not sure why, but that's what plastic usually does). Think it would help the realism of the game a bit more :). Maybe you already thought of it yourself though :)

All the cars are textured quite dirty ATM. They look more realistic with no reflections if I make them dirty (since CryENGINE can't do cubemaps on moving objects).

Tire tread: oops :p Will fix

Yes, we haven't started on any damage textures yet.
