Bought this puppy today. It'll be here in two weeks though Also bought new strings which already arrived, but haven’t had time to put them on yet
M7 earthquake in South Central AK. Am alright, nothing expensive seems to have fallen except my G27 which should still be functional. Schools are closed, along with several highway overpasses and onramps which have suffered severe structural damage. Still have gas for heat with no known leaks, power is out and no information available. Sirens in distance. Thanking God it wasn't a whole lot worse!
Good for now, some people got it a lot worse. Power is slowly coming back but hasn't reached me yet. One source of updates says there could be another big one; I haven't heard that, I seriously hope they're wrong. EDIT: That source was a friend's neighbor, and I don't think she knows where he got it from.
Glad to know you are ok, be extremely cautious with the gas like you said. Also make sure you have access to food/water/heat because if the roads are blocked it can be a dangerous situation, especially in Alaska. Stay safe.
So i was playing citiies skylines, and decided to record it and get a bit more variety on my gaming channel. Now i'm trying to do a bit of BeamNG, but of course i can't do my typical talking stuff since my steering wheel is so noisy, i have a bluesnowball mic, which means it hears everything, including people talking downstairs Anyway i was going to film some videos with good production quality about tech, but i always stumble on my lines, i should write scripts, if i don't i ramble, and even then i always cough or mispronounce a word, it's annoying! I should record over it in editing, but i can't be asked much for that. --- Post updated --- wow! glad you're ok.
UPDATE: Power is back on around the valley, with only a few houses still out. Eagle River isn't so lucky with over 40% of the core area still out and the outlying areas (Hiland Road, and Eagle River Road out to the Nature Center) almost completely cut off with no progress in several hours. Heard something about bridges in the area being out, which may be what's stalling crews... Praying for ER, and thanking God it wasn't much worse... as far as I know no one died from this quake.
So, it's Saturday. Lunch out with my kid, as usual. Somehow I could convince him to go eat healthy food (well... healthier...) for a change. End of the World is near...
Wow, wish you luck with everything, glad you’re okay. We don’t get earthquakes in the Midwest, and I’m glad for that. We’re getting quite a bit of snow here, waiting for people to slide into my lawn and hit the trees like they do almost every year. Roads are apparently bad, and seeing as it’s the start of the season, everybody’s trying to remember how to drive on snow again.
Internet is back on; seems the ISP had a problem on their end that they didn't know about because I called at the wrong time and got the contractor that takes their calls at night. (And to think, I almost tried to run off and buy a new DSL cable for who knows how much that wouldn't have even fixed anything!) Infrastructure repairs are in progress around the state. Things are starting to normalize, but road conditions are supposed to start getting very icy tonight. Hopefully that doesn't throw a wrench into things.
Anyone here believe in free will? I didn't use to, but now I do. Those of you who think the universe is pre-determined: let's do an experiment. Just get up, stand still and let things happen as they do, as they have been determined, without allowing yourself the illusion of control or choice. To paraphrase Neil Peart, you have just chosen not to decide, and yet still have made a choice. You and others can observe free will for yourselves - the decision to call it an illusion is just that - a choice, and a very silly one at that. Why, without any evidence to indicate you should do so, would you deny what you can see for yourself?
And now for something completely different: this is a rather poorly-written article, but even Japan seems to be realizing that super-dense urbanism plain old does not work. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/01/japans-offer-residents-overcrowded-tokyo-20000-move/ I know I've been hard on Japan in the past for car-culture-related reasons, and there is a lot about their culture I think is flatly awful, but on the other hand they have produced quite a lot of common sense as of late.
I ordered a 212 EVO for my PC but looks to be about an inch to long to fit in my case without interefering with the side glass. So, I returned that to University of Texas (theres an amazon hub there) and ordered THIS instead. My build is all white, so this is gonna be a nice little visual upgrade over the stock intel ghetto cooler. Plus, I have an i5-6600K coming as well as a chinese GTX1060 "5 gig" that isnt white in color, so I have plans to get a GPU water cooler also to mask how ugly it is. 8 more gigs of ram coming as well. SO ill be running i5-6600k, 1060 5gig, 16 gigs ram, watercooled. Kind of excited for that
I know, but I already have people bidding on my 1050Ti SSC 4G and i3, so those 2 combined im looking to recoup like 200 bucks, if this 1060 is wack, ill just sell it for 60 bucks and get a 1060 legit model or else a 1070 but I CANT BELIEVE the prices of the fucking graphics cards omfg
recently i've become a moderator for the the beamng roleplay group and i get to do some pretty cool stuff with the tools i have
linus tech tips did a review of the 5 gig 1060 and its benchmark scores came out almost identical to a 6 gig legit 1060, so I figured for 75 bucks wtf do I have to lose lol (well, maybe 75 bucks i guess lol) if this one doesnt work out tho Im just gonna go whole hog and get a 1080 11 gig for like 800 bucks and say screw it that will be good enough for like, years to come i assume lol
