@tdev I think you need coffee, maybe even a vacation. I think you are right that it is not ok to just bash the devs, but I am also worried that you could damage you or your company's reputation if you don't word your arguements properly. I wish you the best of luck with working out bugs and keeping your team happy and healthy. I can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring.Thank you for making this majestic game. -Harkin.
I'll word things very properly, but don't try to shut my mouth either, I'm not silencing anyone here either.
Wow, this thread has changed. I'll add my own 1 cent... You know that present you know darn well your parents are going to get, because you've wanted it for the longest time and it's in your price range? So when you open it, your eyes shine with happiness like you only asked for it once? That's how a new BeamNG update feels for me, and should feel for everyone. I don't care how long this game takes to release, as long as nobody makes any stupid mistakes, you should see this game for 5 more years minimum. I'm often bored and even a game about crashing vehicles with realisim makes me un-bored like a kid that went to recess. I mean, these real people are putting their free time into this game, one even hurting themselves because they love the project so much. I'd give the devs atleast a bit of leeway for postponing an update another half-a-year. I might not have a job, but you can tell how difficult game developing, especially a game like this, is for a team like this. This is probably the first and maybe only reason I want to get a better computer, and even a racing wheel if possible. Sadly, because threads like these never stop toxicity, everything said here will lay to waste. Yes, it sucks, but that's life. You just have to deal with it sometimes.
referring to what Tdev said earlier about the whole "pay 15/25$ 5 years ago business model" thing, I have to say, if you WERE to implement something like a 2nd buy in, or some paid DLC, i wouldnt mind one bit. It would at least thin out the amount of little kids and people who have no idea what theyre doing and beg constantly lol
I'm not trying to "shut your mouth" I am just am worried that this could turn into an EA or Bethesda drama-fest.
Money isn't going to necessarily stop them, they'll still whine and about how that $10 DLC was trash and beg for a $5 Ferrari Expansion DLC (or something like that)
id say start a whole new forum as it is for the people that joined over 3 years ago and leave this one for the automation people
you know that's what i thought about doing in the group page, (just wish we could still make groups) having another "sub forum" where everyone can join in to what would be this website with community moderators (like @Fera)
I feel like this game is going to get anywhere because the communication among the community and devs is.. not ideal. I highly appreciate tdev's work, but I do feel like he should not take us criticizing BeamNG as a personal attack upon him, because it seems like he is taking it as such. I love BeamNG, but I feel like criticism should be taken as feedback. But hey, I'm just a normal user, what am I going to do.
Because, in the last 3 years this forum has turned into a little baby day care center compared to how chill and productive it was 3+ years ago. why do you think a lot of good mods have not been coming out (as much and as frequently as 3+ years ago)? a lot of the talented people from the beginning gave up and got tired of all the requests and "plz giv relees dayte plxxxx" posts and general immaturity by the majority of members. I can absolutely see the decline in forum integrity. But thats just my observation.
But a person who joined 3 years ago can still be an absolute jack*** on the forums while on the contrary someone who joined only a month ago can show great respect and is an active contributer to the forums. Making a new forum is a waste of time/resources and pretty much segregates BeamNG members, which is something the devs should never do.
I know I was being mostly facetious, but for real the forums are just ballooning with people with seemingly no sense about them....not to mention the Automation monstrosities and the influx of kiddies from that ughh lol
December is an important month to have big updates for game devs and it sounds like there’s a lot of bugs they all have to get worked out in the next week and a half. Probably a lot of stress on them before considering the forums, I wouldn’t think too much into any recent comments like that.
The problem I'm seeing right now is that there isn't a universal definition of constructive criticism amongst forum-users. Sure, people have their own definitions, but no-one can really come to a definite conclusion. Normally it isn't a problem IRL, but here, it's becoming a bit of a problem. As for the Automation stuff, people have discussed this, we should move on from that mess. Now we should just remember the year we are leaving behind and look forward to the next year.
i fell like now they are trying to rush it because theres so much pressure from all these people on here, and if they postpone the update for another week or so, all hell will break loose. Which is sad, because Id rather a map and/or car to come out in flawless working condition, no bugs, than a last minute rushed release
On the subject of smaller, less mature members I myself am still in my childhood, but I apreciate how much work can go into a game like this, and how the devs have managed to keep it in track for the last few years. I do feel kind of embarrassed that I am classified by many as 'a nonsensical squeaker '. I would definitely like to see certain people grow up and not give us a bad reputation
exactly...and? --- Post updated --- they are being pressured by all these people splitting hairs...so Im not sure why you would use what I said in that way...maybe you misunderstood?
Well it seems contradictory to me, here you are wanting the devs to take their time and dial in those details yet you were upset when people were discussing small details about new content. I fee like this is going off-topic as well, or is this OT technically since the forums are a part of BeamNG, as it's the best place to look for feedback?
