After my first Spanish License Plate mod*, in which I was able to finally incorporate some actual real looking spanish plates to the game (Eternal kudos to @machine for starting this all) Beam.NG finally allows dynamic european plates generation, so it's time to do the next step! The plan is to eventually offer as many european plates as possible, using the best looking assets I can so they look 100% like their real counterparts, with all main styles used by daily driving civilian vehicles from many years and styles as possible: (All following plate pics are generated in-game with the mod) The mod also includes euro-spec rear bumpers for the Covet, Roamer and 200BX, so these cars can fit any european plate, you need to select it first and then apply the euro plate. F.A.Q.-The text I just wrote can't fit! Some long texts (like ZZ-XXXX-ZZ on spanish plates for example) don't fit in the plate because the distance between characters when using actual spaces to separate them is too wide. Use dots (.) instead of spaces or dashes (-) between characters, so a special dash or a space with shorter distance to characters after and before it will appear instead, allowing you to generate it properly. -How can I use the decals between characters? With the inclusion of Czech Republic and Sweden, it is now possible to place their respective plate decals if you want to use them, but since they are always added by default, there is no need to do it manually. If you want to play with how the text is generated, please note that the decals for the Czech Republic are shown by replacing the 'O', and for Sweden, the 'Q' (characters normally not used in those systems) so by adding the respective character in any of the plates, you will get the decal in any position you want. If you want to remove it, please consider using a period '.' to replace it so the spacing between characters is kept the same. -I want to use a plate which features a different color background in one side (UK, France - Rear, Yellow) and it shows up as white. Since there is no easy way to tell the game to generate two different backgrounds for the same style, changing the licenseplate part in the parts editor it's needed first. Search for "Rear Yellow European Plate" and it will automatically change the background to yellow for the rear only. Please remember to change the plate again to the regular Euro Plate again when switching to a design with the same background in both sides, since it will fail to load. -What happened to the RHD Vivace? The decision to separate the mod was taken a while ago to make things simpler to everyone, and to ensure people only get what they look for (plates and/or RHD/LHD content) so all RHD content, currently only covering the Vivace, which was broken and outdated by 0.25 anyway has been removed and work on a new mod focusing entirely on this is already begun, and will be uploaded to the repo once it's done. Hopefully more countries will follow soon! Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you! Good news, hopefully today I'll release a new version with most older french plates (Pre 1993, 1993-2004 and 2004 to 2009) and at least a couple of UK ones (current style with and without euroband, probably the older style with black background too). Current French plates is something I might give a shot since I would want as much variety in my pack, but I have to say I can't really improve what @thomatoes50 did with his mod, but I'll give it a shot anyway, even if I can't replicate his great idea for the departments which allows his mod to have any current plate for any department in just one plate, so I suppose one will do...
This looks really good, i hope to see a lot of different license plates! The retro and older plates are a nice touch which not many people would make! I hope you will add loads of different ones for every country. If you make them like you did for the spain ones, we might have the best license plate pack for beam.
Thank you! I'll try to do that indeed for all countries, some might be hard but I'll try to cover as much as possible, at least with regular plates (If I start doing special ones, this would never end) Anyway, France is ready to go I'll do UK now and update the pack when it's done, hopefully today. You will notice 3 separate platefonts were needed, the 1993-2009 is the main one, the current plate is a bold and shorter version, and the Pre-1993 is thinner than the 1993-2009
Sadly the system cannot have different texture for front and rear easily. You would need to create a new fake format to force it to be different. But i would avoid that as you need to redo all configurations. And it would be incompatible with vanilla configurations too
Thanks for coming by! Yes, it's a bit of a mess because of that, I had to create a new licenseplate jbeam for all official cars for a new rear license plate, and of course it only works with designs which feature different textures front and rear, if a design with only one texture for both sides is applied that new plate will display as "No Texture", so the plate has to be changed. Do you think it can be a problem with the game itself? I was planning to make a little guide to help people config their plates properly, or maybe a few configs here and there, not sure...at least in my game everything seems to be working right.
could a finnish plate be done? (the one with blue on the side) (they are same at back and front) Spoiler: pics
I don't know how many countries are on your list but I think you can try Turkish plates (first 4 plates are way older and needs city names it seems but your choice), here's a picture I've found:
Of course, it's on the pipeline but will take a while, hopefully I can make a new country every week at least from now on, so eventually I will reach there The only problem is plate sizes, shortening the current euro plate is not easy (at least for me) so worst case scenario, it will go on a long plate. Turkey is right in the edge, I may do it, but only when the rest of the countries are done, to keep a bit of order. Will be done soon Next I think will be Portugal, Italy and Germany, and then I will start to do them from left to right, covering as much as possible.
for the no texture problem, look into the last sentence of this pargraph https://wiki.beamng.com/License_plate_tutorial#Add_your_own_format_.28version_0.15.0_and_above.29
The update is live! Updated the first post as well Eventually, yes. I've seen many people doing their own countries, I wouln't want to monopolize on all countries and rendering their first versions useless so I'll focus on a balance between important and not still done countries.
Can we get Bulgarian? I would make them, but I have no skills. Also I am maybe the only Bulgarian here, so there's no such thing as "many people doing their own countries". I am willing to help you over PM. Here are the styles: pre-1969: 1969-1986: 1986-1992: 1992-1999: 1999-2008: 2008- :
