And you probably expect reactions and feedback from teasers, don't you? That's what you are getting. Sometimes feedback can be negative too, sometimes people have useful suggestions for you... In this case, if observations moved toward that teaser are unfounded, all you need to do is to say so and provide valid arguments. Reacting like that whenever you guys are getting criticized often sounds infantile and kinda arrogant, to be honest.
i have seen that mustang on the street before, its stored relatively close to my house (about 30 min away). Its pretty sweet --- Post updated --- awow, damned if you do, damned if you dont apparently when it comes to showing WIP stuff on the dev level. Some people just need to literally nit pick everything. I dont understand why though. It's awesome to see some work going on behind the scenes, cool that yall are working on an official electric drivetrain. Will certainly open up a lot of opportunity for hybrid mods and electric supercars etc. It's nice to see some early WIP, it is after all what everyone has been begging for, so kudos for that sneak peek!
We are always open to constructive criticism and feedback, but please remember we are always putting a lot of time and effort into what we are doing. Expose them to us with courtesy, and we will more than happy to hear them
What is it we're seeing in that pic? Is it actually an electric powertrain for the SBR4 as speculated? Electric part of an hybrid system, maybe?
as much as i'm sure they'd love to clear things up to us and avoid some of the harsh criticism some people give, there's a reason it's a "teaser" and they'll hopefully hold off on fully confirming what it is, that's the whole reason for the update speculation thread.
Yes, I think it was pretty obvious with the suspension and wheels on the picture. Facelift in the work too.
You caught my attention there. If I may ask; a facelift as in a newer generation, or an older generation (as in a pre-facelift thingee)?
the electric version is very likely newer, and contains high energy density batteries (not 2012 technology or whatever year the SBR4 is in production i forget). i'd be willing to bet there will be slim LED lights involved, along with some changes to the bumpers. maybe for a 2016 model year or something like that (if the production year really does start in 2012)
Some have expressed concerns about batteries and expected range of the vehicle. Full pack of batteries not shown, I guess?
We expect your understanding with that project as SBR4 originally was not designed to be electric car and there was no plans to do separate electric car as well. We are working best from what we already have to introduce to you experience with fully electric car, but space for battery pack is limited. We will do best to make it believable, but again we expect your support.
solar cell roof wouldn't be a bad idea i think it could work quite well for low loads like highway cruising. also, will we see a regenerative braking system?
So there will be just a low-range quick&dirty job? It could at least have been one of these old experimental electric cars, like a Covet with a trunkload of batteries.
They could drop the rear seats and put batteries there... Many converted cars though just had the battery pack in the former transmission tunnel, maybe a few more cells under the rear bench. So... Even as is, it makes much sense, IMO.
This. At the very least a T shape would be believable, I've never seen a battery pack that filled just the transmission tunnel. I think that throwing out the rear seat would be a good way of expressing the limitations electric cars face when they're not built from the ground up.
It’s pretty likely it will be newer generation as it uses modern technology, and I am also guessing it will have little/no grille as most electric vehicles do. It could also have one of those fake plastic grilles as you sometimes see on some electric vehicles. Although obviously I have no real evidence to back it up, and this is all just speculation
Because it’s a performance car it will still need some decent cooling for the brakes and electrical components, plus so many cars are over styled now that aesthetic vents wouldn’t be unexpected.
Unfortunatley, solar panels won't help anything. Solar panels can only really produce 200W per square meter, and are kinda heavy. At best, a solar roof would get you enough power to run your AC, during noon on a clear day in the tropics. If it's cloudy, or you live more than 45 degrees from the equator, the weight will probably hurt your range more than it helps. There aren't any solar cars for a reason. I am excited to see what the electric SBR will be like though. It feel it would make more sense as a hybrid (maybe there is going to be one?), with the rear wheels powered by an engine, the front electric, and just the driveshaft tunnel batteries (since that space won't be needed. As full electric the SBR is gonna need every spare space crammed with batteries. As a technology demonstrator or something that's fine though.
Well... there is an entire engine compartment that can be filled with batteries with nothing in it yet (as shown by the picture). I would just put the batteries there if I were them. Plus, I am sure they aren't showing all the components yet as the thing is still in development.
I'm really excited for the ESBR, thats probably going to be my favorite car to date. Since RPMs arent important for electric cars, will we be getting a redesigned UI app tacho for the ESBR that instead displays power consumption/regeneration (if so in place)? And if we are, will it automatically switch between the standard tacho and the electric tacho based on which car we are driving?
