Some BMWs did have an airbag during the 80s. For example, E34 launched in 1987.

Just to clarify, the E34 came out in late 1989, not 1987.

Also, will there be a european bumper version ever made?

I'd support that if someone made it as a mod

Since we are getting a LWB mod from Ytrewq, that doesn't seem that far-fetched.

I'd be interested if someone can pull off a Kashira-psuedo vehicle but with the I-Series instead of the Pessima.

I'm sure that'd look so awesome!
Once I know how, I think I'll give it a try!
Don't quote me on that, though.

Dangit, you’re right. E28 M5 production carried on for a while after that and always confuses me. Good job correcting me on old BMW facts lol.

Anyway, aside from this question of the E34 launch, driver airbag was available on Bmw E23 series since 8/1985 ;)

I wasn't criticizing the name, rather liking your general idea.

I know, just I think the 128i is better suited for another model.

I find this vehicle to be rather heavy like E34 BMW, but race version is styled like 190E Evolution, even skin reminds me of Klaus Ludwig's car, yet that race version weight 1365kg, however tires are only 225's while street variant of Evo II used 245 tires and weight was lot less. DTM version of 190E was around 1000kg.

BMW used smaller 300 series on DTM as their 500 series was bit heavy I guess.

So I think race variant might need 255 or 265 tires all around.

ETK i-series is an amalgamation of multiple cars which becomes it's own entity; I'm not even sure if the race and rally versions were kept especially close to any particular real-world ruleset as I could never get an answer on that one.

Yeah, but thing here is that over 1300kg Turbo engined race car is using narrower and smaller tire than 980kg race car with less powerful NA engine IRL.

Heavier and more powerful car should use bigger rubber or at least same size.

That is why ETKi race variant is bit all over the place.

It is tuned very understeery, perhaps to keep it bit more controllable with skinny tires.

225 16 inch is quite bit less than what such heavy vehicle would use IRL and I think that is bit of a case with several race variants, they have bit skinny rubber for power and weight levels.

But weight is E34 levels if you check it in game. E28 was lot lighter I think.

E34 was very heavy car at it's time, but also that made it rather luxurious. Perhaps that has been inspiration to make it such heavy.

These are pretty much in range of E34, but also one thing to note is that weight is biased slightly more to rear than front:
    2400i is ~1400kg
    3000i is ~1440kg
    3000ix is ~1466kg

There is of course 70l of fuel, which brings weight to be bit less, I'm not sure if that is included in E34 weigh range mentioned in Wikipedia though.

Vanilla track model is actually 1472kg, earlier I mixed up with my custom made version, that has lot lighter engine.

So 416HP and 510Nm of torque with 1472kg has narrower race tires than 980kg 350hp model, it just does not sound best possible combination?
    upload_2019-1-11_6-52-46.png

Tires always need to match weight and power and as tires are very realistic in BeamNG, this unbalanced amount of rubber makes this car to perform bit like being on ice, hence leading to very understeering setup to keep it under control at power application.

That is something similar like GT2 class I think?

I could quickly find only 993 GT2 specs:
    https://www.ultimatespecs.com/car-specs/Porsche/17013/Porsche-911-Coupe-(993-series)-GT2.html

That has 18" wheels, runs 235 wide fronts, so contact patch is larger or at least the same as in ETKi race version, rears are much wider at 285, because Porsche, but power level is roughly same, while weight is lot less.

You either increase profile or width of the tire as weight goes up, for racing use it is preferred to increase width and keep profile quite low.

Skyline used 265mm wide tires at 90's, while it had lot more power until restricted, it had AWD and it did continue to use that wide tires when restricted to 470hp at 1992 in group A and it still was quite bit lighter than ETKi:
    https://www.supercars.net/blog/1993-nissan-skyline-gt-r-group-a/

TBH, I have difficulties to find such heavy race cars of early 90's era, but then again it is bit difficult to find info from those.

It is poor choice of tires for such powerful and heavy car, imo.

Maybe 265 or even 285 rears might be more in line with historical real world data? Fronts 20mm less and suspension tune up accordingly?

Of course problem is fitting such tires in as current fenders don't have space.

    Hi guys!,

Anyone knows where to find the complete specs of the 3000i?, wheel track for example. I'm trying to make a tuned version to be closer to the E36 325i. Here the specs of the 325i:
    Length:
    4433 mm / 174.5 in
    Width:
    1698 mm / 66.9 in
    Height:
    1393 mm / 54.8 in
    Wheelbase:
    2700 mm / 106.3 in
    Front track:
    1408 mm / 55.4 in
    Rear track:
    1421 mm / 55.9 in
I know I can't change the wheelbase, but I can get the track by changing the wheel offset, but I need to know the dimension at 0.

    Thanks

If you move hub nodes around, then you can change wheelbase too. Track width is in same jbeam files, hub nodes that define position and then adjustment that makes offset to those nodes are what you need to examine.
