Went in for a tire change and realised one of my wheels was warped so I bought a new set for my civic. And I don’t regret it bahaha, what do you guys think? Only paid 1200 AUD for a full set of wheels and tires too
Drove a '19 Camaro v6. Pretty fun car. More fun than an ecoboost Mustang. Exhaust has a nice rasp to it, transmission shifts quick and decisively, n/a v6 makes enough power to burn the rear tires off without too much fuss. Plenty to keep me entertained.
That's what happens when you put a charismatic engine in a car rather than a food blender with a hair dryer taped to it.
Having had 3 V6 powered vehicles in my day, you couldn't be any more wrong. However, 6 cylinders > 4 or fewer.
Nah, @rottenfitzy is right. I6s are superior in pretty much every way. In reality though I think it has way more to do the specific motor. BMW I6s sound awesome, big turbo diesel I6s sound awesome, and the I6 in my parents FJ80 sounds like an old sewing machine.
In my mind the only thing they have going for them is smoothness. It's another one of those "if they really were better, they'd be more ubiquitous".
The reason they arent ubiquitous is simple. Theyre long. Harder to design a car around than an i4 or v6
It’s packaging. Mechanically, V6s are an unbalanced mess. I6s are naturally balanced. The only reason they aren’t more widespread is because they’re, as 6677 said, really long and difficult to package. Also, companie like having one six cylinder design, and it tends to be a V6 since it can be mounted in transverse applications. Also, have you ever owned a car with an L6?
Just watched the Doug Demuro video of hypermiling a gen 1 Honda Insight where he aimed for 80mpg. My daily driver only gets 8mpg =‘(

V6s definitely get my support hands down when compared to i4s. Anything does, I've come to somewhat despise i4s. Especially when paired with a cvt. When I think of good v6s, GM's 3.6 comes to mind. Fun engine. I've enjoyed the 3.3 Sorentos that I've driven, too. Just a couple off the top of my head. I've just stumbled across this youtube channel that has a lot of videos like this. I dig it. No bullshit.
This was a conversation about I6s vs V6s. But yeah, good V6s are good, but then again, so are mediocre i6s.
In terms of weight distribution, V6's are quite a nice package. You can keep the weight further back far easier than an I6 (on a front engine car). Over here in the UK, if you want something like an X-Type, there are over 200 of them under £2000. At the higher end of that budget you can get a 3.0l V6 with 90k miles on it. Power is only 231hp, and it is AWD. Probably a fun car to own providing you are old enough to get insurance on it. 27.5mpg [Motorway: 37mpg, City: 19mpg] (23mpg US) is gonna be expensive though. But since you can pick up an entire second X-Type for as little as £350, parts aren't going to cost that much.
