If by the end of this ordeal, I actually make a map of some kind, should I release it?

    Hey everybody!

I recently got interested into the idea of making my own map for BeamNG.drive.

    Simple enough, right? Not quite.

You see, I've been encountering a NUMBER of issues. Firstly, I haven't been able to even get the template map renamed to the name I want the map to be called to begin the editing process. But, when I make a copy of the template map and rename all the places that say ''template'' to the name I want, it just breaks the map. it doesn't show up at all in Beam.

No biggie I thought, I would just edit the Template Map itself and rename it later. WRONG. For some reason I cant fathom at all, the second I even use a single tool in the map editor, it breaks the map in the sense that now, the terrain block is now completely oblivious to the car, and the car just goes straight through it. It doesn't collide with the car at all. A sample clip of this issue will be at the end of this post.

With that, I decide to just give up and follow a tutorial. What could go wrong? Absolutely everything. Nearly all the tutorials I can find about map creation on YouTube are around two years old, and when I try to follow the steps of any video tutorial, they don't work in BeamNG since they are too old (obviously).

With that, I am completely stuck. Nothing works. That's why I need one of you people of the internet to help me with this. It would be a god send if one of you knows a website or YouTube video listing an up-to date tutorial on map creation. Until then, I can't go any further with map creation with BeamNG.

It is really a shame that the tutorials on BeamNG's website aren't up-to date with the latest version of the game, and if a moderator read this, please, update the tutorials if possible. I feel this seriously a shame, since a game like Bus Simulator 18 gives you an up to date PDF file containing 80 pages information about modding, which is regularly updated by the way.

Anyways, thank you to everybody and anybody who has read this far and thank you in advance for all the helpful responses also.

    Yours truly,

    olamercedes.

P.S. here is the link as I promised:

I can't really help you with map modding, as I have no clue about it either, but for the issue you presented on the video, you have to press Ctrl + R to reload all the things which in turn makes the car able to drive on the edited terrain

Hey. I recently got into map modding aswell. I followed a tutorial from HighDef and Davidinark on Davidinark's channel. That's the most recent good tutorial. And yeah, you should probably use Template once you watch it.
