I think the forums are at an all time low. but it will probably resurge at some point. discord, no not really. the YouTube fanbase is still very extensive, but back in 2014/2013 was when bigger YouTuber's actually played it (EG, CaptainSparklez, etc.)
I haven't been here for as long as some people but I'd have to dispute the idea that "the forums are at an all time low". Frankly I wouldn't consider this to be an "all-time" low... sure, a lot of big names are inactive or banned, but the overall quality of discussion is not the worst I've seen.
i guess your right. from my personal experience (been here since about 2014, got an account 2016) it's pretty low. I was exaggerating i guess.
If anything is dying, it is the community. The game is actually making solid progress I think. The forums are called shit by multiple users. This is not because "there are little kids everywhere", it's because you don't make it nice for yourself. A nice forum/meet/server/social thing is nice because it has a good mix between the topic, the users and the off-topic. A forum with pure on-topic replies is boring, I know. But currently there is too much shitposting and people that complain about this are the same people that actually shitpost. Let me give an example of this. I have a thread for my unfinished stuff: https://www.beamng.com/threads/blijos-unfinished-stuff.58912/#post-1013482 Post #10 is somewhat ugly to read and instead of ignoring it, 5-6 users decide to reply on it and add 10 replies to the post that are completely unneeded, not funny and lowering the quality of the forums. THAT is the problem. Same goes for these "big names being banned", they did something to get that ban. So, if you want to have a nice forum, be nice yourself and behave like you want others to behave. Not very hard imho, think before replying and then think again.
I just downloaded the game for the first time on Feb 27, 2019... so as far as I'm concerned all this is brand new and exciting to me. If there are people who have been here from the ground floor on Aug 4, 2013 and/or May 29, 2015... then I suppose their viewpoint is going to be way different than mine. I sure hope it isn't dying. I just got here for cryin' out loud. Amazing how some people just want to sing "Turn out the lights, the party's over"... just when I finally get here. (Tisk, tisk... story of my life). I'm guessing they're will always be those ultra-progressive gamers where if everything isn't evolving quick enough for them, then that means it's dead. Somehow, I just don't quite understand that mentality of thinking.
Yea, I may be partly guilty for that. I really needa think more before I post... Sorry Although generally I try and keep on topic and be as helpful as possible, although obviously that doesn't excuse how I acted. Don't worry, it's not dying at all. In fact if you look at steam charts you will see it is still steadily increasing in popularity. The next update is speculated to be tomorrow, so watch how things change...

Wish I could agree more, yet I am a hypocrite. Sometimes I do the same for a one off joke or something. Luckily, I think...or atleast I hope I think more before I post on here. I do that more on Discord. Doesn't matter anyway, my jokes can be shit. I'm just glad I'm not the only one.

I will never let this game die i mention it to literally every gamer i encounter tbh it's bad I've never been a fanboy except for this game.
Low player spike is probably a fluke, Twitch spikes are probably some new video released there, but I have never used twitch.tv and have no idea, just guessing, other games have those twitch.tv spikes too.
I know I've posted here before but tbh, I think another reason beamng just isn't as popular as it should be is because some of the people here in the community like to start arguments, annoy people, and just be asses.
The number of active members on this forum are far less than the playerbase as a whole, I don't see how anything happening on here (which has been good lately) would have any substantial effect on the playerbase
I think that y’all have this backwards. I’m one of the users who doesn’t do a lot of modding, and some people would consider me to be a low spot of this forum. That being said, however, I think that people like me do contribute to the community. We can make a decent joke every once in a while, ask good questions, give suggestions, point out obvious mistakes, etc. and do “menial” tasks that major users don’t need/want to do. I was part of the reason why the ETK C-Series exists, BTW. We give inspiration for modders, so thousands can benefit from one of our ideas. And while it may be controversial, backseat moderating does serve some value. Gently correcting users for poor (though admittedly unknown) behaviour serves an inherent value. It also gives Nadeox and Goosah a break from having to repeatedly write out a canned response about reading the Wiki rules. There is a limit to how far it can go, however, and we do need to be aware of where it is. Frankly, this community, for the most part, is fine. I can’t think of anyone here who is openly toxic that hasn’t been banned. And, as Blijo points out, some “big users” got banned for a reason. Stop whinging about loosing a toxic individual, modder or not. (I will plug Carbo here just for being a silly guy that I kind of miss). The moderators drained the swamp because it needed to happen. Stop complaining about it. The quality of the game, community, and youtube audience are all fine. Everybody is looking at the past through a rose-tinted glass, and need to accept what a great game we have in the present day. Beamng isn’t dying because the game, devs, and the community are all strong. Wake up.
