I think if there was a definition of the word "Resource Hog" this would be the description of it, but still awesome work!
Is a very good MOD, but I5-7400 and GTX 1060 6GB go extremely hard, if you better optimize it will be the best 8x8 mode!
For an actual bug report (other than the terrible framerate of 14 for me): - The engine revs waaay too high for a diesel, especially a big one like this. The rev range should be ATLEAST cut by half (2500-3000RPM) - If you remove the engine cover, the exhaust starts flapping around like it's made from rubber - The gauges don't light up when you turn on the actual lights - The steering wheel jiggles back & forth, even when the engine is turned off - Spelling mistake in the word 'exhaust' - Which version of the word is it? - The old diesel engine has rev limit set at ~5800RPM yet it only revs to ~3800 This is the list of problems that I've noticed right now. Will try to write some more if I find them. This mod could be a VERY good one, if not the amount of problems & performance issues with it, which you seem to not want to fix as of the time being. I definitely appreciate the big amount of customisation it provides, but it's very hard to recommend the mod to anyone
I found a bug on the front front axle, the big heavy duty tires are in the steel ones and there supposed to be in the aluminium
Hey @Crash Hard 01 , the cab seems to have the biggest FPS impact, what in the cab has the big impact or is it the cab itself? The FPS impact is also quite large on the engine cover. What did the engine cover do? P.S. I think it would be funny if you jerry-rigged the T-series cab on as an alternative to the current cab, to improve the FPS.
I do like this, but I have to say that I'm on the verge of an accidental photo mode at 6 to 11 fps on gridmap with settings on lowest so optimization is definitely in order though I understand that this is currently in an experimental state. I was able to get playable fps on gridpure enough to drive it and even spawn a bus to see how it handled crashing into something and the satisfaction I felt when it obliterated the rear end of the bus at 86mph was truly enjoyable. I had to stop for a bit as both my cpu and gpu started thermal throttling and my pc still sounds like a jet engine as I'm writing. I'm not sure if it's a bug, the inside of the cab has the engine visible, not sure if it's a bug, yet to be implemented part, or if it's supposed to be like that. Exhaust is misspelled as already pointed out. Didn't notice any missing textures or weird physics or spaghettifiction on impacts (a bus rim spaghettified though lol) I'll play around with it some more in small doses for my computers sake and let you know if I find any more issues, this is probably going to be one of the top ten mods for Beam when finished.
Thank you all for the feedback - I do not plan to redo any of the models, and i have no plans to reduce any of the J-beam structures. So stop asking. This was a test to see how far this game can be pushed. - the engine cover have all the airfilter parts ontop of it + all the exhaust holders and pipes, all this is colliding with each other, and all the exhaust parts needs support, so if you remove the holders and engine cover, it will flopp around. - The cab is the same thing, it have many parts that can collide with each other. And that may lagg your game. - all the other stuff, like part names spelled wrong, missing rims, wrong rev limit. This i will look into and fix for a patch
Is it possible that anybody else can possibly make modifications to the cab etc to stop these problems? --- Post updated --- Also, @Crash Hard 01, I think it would be funny and actually helpful for FPS if someone modded the T-Series cab onto this frame as a mod and an FPS improvement.
Hard to run is one thing... 13.7fps max with an i7 6700k and a gtx 1070 is another. Nevertheless, it still looks cool once the game's physics are paused, at least.
Alternatively you can just turn off collisions in settings>gameplay Literally doubles the frame rate.
Sure, there have been a guy offering to optimize it for me behind the scene but it may have been to much and drove him insane But if anyone think they can optimize the mod without messing up all the detachable parts and deformation, let me know, and i can put that version in this mod and have you in the credits, but dont just reupload it to the forum here, that is very disrespectful.
now there is an fps fix this mod has become really nice but there are a few things that need to be changed/fixed. the lockers almost act as really strong limited slip diffs and slip sometimes when you are climbing something steep and gnarly. the engines rev limiter is too high and the torque just after idle is not high enough so once you get down low in the revs it stalls on climbs. thanks again for a really nice mod
Thats interesting about the Cabin being the source of the FPS problem must be the bulk of the nodes in that area or something *Shrugs* but thats an assumption
The cabin causes so much lag because the high concentration of nodes and uneven spacing causes a ton of Jbeam instabilities and constant self-collisions. You can't notice them normally, but if you look at the debug views it's pretty unstable. That's why turning off self collision improves fps so much. This thing is a neat experiment, but it's pretty useless and not super well executed, unfortunately, although I do have to say its impressively stable for how complex it is.
I am gonna have to take this thing for a spin... awesome looking truck, but it looks like its turning into a PC tester
Good luck I could barely get 50fps in the Grid map...thats how much my 3 and a bit year old supercomputer can do maybe with far fewer J-beams on the cabin it would be better lol
