Well, here she is. The long-awaited Hirochi eSBR 500.



We don't even know how much power this one puts out - it's quite enough. The styling is less aggressive and more square than the gas-powered models, meant to evoke the American muscle cars of old - for instance, the honeycomb wheels look like something straight off of an old Soliad Firestorm. In fact, I imagine these rims will become very popular among resto-modders.



It costs more than the Twin Turbo S2, but after you get your fat federal rebate check for going electric, it ends up costing around $15,000 less. State rebates can bring the price down even more, so make sure you familiarize yourself with your state's laws before you buy. I recommend you buy it in California.



It's just too damn fast! And it's not like gasoline-powered cars where you lose acceleration as you gain speed - the dual electric motors pull just as hard all the way up to 155 MPH. It does 0-60 in just over 3 seconds, all without burning a single drop of gas. There's an even more powerful model, the 800, but it isn't worth it. The 500 is plenty.



The range is only about 150 miles with economical driving habits, but it supports fast charging. Also, Hirochi has made it quite clear that this is not some eco-warrior economy car, this is an electric muscle car. The only reason it exists is because gas-powered engines couldn't meet Hirochi's performance requirements for the now-scrapped Twin Turbo S3.

It might also be the simplest electric car you can buy - it isn't as packed with technology as, say, the Gauss Type-2, and as a bonus, you don't get the feeling it's recording you. It is performance at its purest.

The only problem I can think of is that hood ornament, which is almost guaranteed to get stolen.

 

Half of me says 'wow... that's beautiful' and the other half says 'It's ok, but I better like it. It's the future'.
P.S. Took it submarining (doesn't flood) and does anyone remember 99's electric SBR4, I wonder what his plan of action is now...
