Hirochi SBR4

Am I the only one who liked the old body shape of the Moonhawk, Sunburst, H-Series, and Roamer better?

 

I find it an odd choice that they did this and some of them are kinda strange seeing in the GIFs, but when they aren't side by side some of the changes are hard to see. I think I'll get use to them quick.

 

1. I was sure I put this in Update Speculation, sorry about that.

2. I think we all will, but at the same time it's kind of disappointing. The Roamer became narrower and flatter for no apparent reason, the H-Series looks like it got its beltline lowered and put in a rather strange place, the Sunburst lost its beautiful rear fenders that really set it apart from any real-life equivalent, the Moonhawk got smaller and rounder (I really liked it as a big, chunky, lumbering brick!), and the 800 Series looks like it went down a size class.

 

Does the esbr has regenerative braking?, if it has, there is someway to see it on the dashboard?

 

90s fullsize SUVs were not that upright.

Beltlines of the Express, Econoline or Ram Van are not high either.

That's the point. Beam is meant to be realistic.

The GM A-Bodies, the closest counterparts, weren't big bricks, but instead looked quite like the Moonhawk does now.

And after all, it's a midsizer, not a fullsize landbarge.

The I-Series also isn't really as big as the W124 or E34. I think it's just conitnuity.

 

To all of this I would say: Beam is supposed to be realistic, yes, but with the exception of the 200BX the cars aren't supposed to just be badges-taped-over take-offs of real models. Gavril is not Ford or Chevy, Hirochi is not Nissan or Mazda, etc. instead they are their own entities which could still plausibly have existed in real life. So the Moonhawk showed some influences from GM cars of the period, but it is not a GM car of the period; the Sunburst is a late-2000s Japanese sedan but not any specific Japanese sedan, etc.

 

I like the model updates. To be honest, the Sunburst was very weirdly proportioned and the Roamer looked like a vehicle from Saints Row...

Somehow they managed to curve their pillars even more...

 

And that's why those cars don't look like replicas.

Yet they are supposed to maintain realistic styling, and Beam vehicles do it well after the redesign. Now, the engine choices are often a completely different situation...

 

The e SBR somehow reminds me of the Skoda Vision 4 concept but i dont know why

 

Will we get an SBR4 with a Flat-4 & the new updated looks, i.e. a second generation SBR4?

 

And this is better how? With the fender flares minimized, there's nothing to break up the flat side of the car; combined with the very straight beltline, the car ends up looking way longer and narrower than it actually is. It's like it's trying to be boxy and curvy at the same time, and it's just not a good look at all. It's like the Roamer's unnatural flatness was transferred to the Sunburst rather than gotten rid of, which is weird considering it was technically flatter & boxier before. Strangely enough, the bricklike tumblehome they were probably trying to get rid of is what gave the car its unique & better look in the first place, but if they'd kept the fender bulges more defined instead of smoothing them out, the result probably would have still been acceptable.

(The good news is that every part related to the fender flares is apparently replaceable, so it should be possible to restore old-style fenders via a parts pack. Usually I'm against overfender kits but I think I'll make an exception in this case!)

 

You're not. Just a few days ago, while playing BeamNG, I was looking at a Sunburst and admiring its pronounced curves. Now they're basically gone. Sounds like a nightmare. 800-series pisses me off, too - the old rear end looked bold and curvy, while the new one looks weak and depressed.
However, I don't mind changes made to other cars - Covet and H-series are barely distinguishable, I don't care much for the Roamer, the Moonhawk is now looking like a proper midsize car and Miramar got some nice curves.

SBR4 has no direct real counterpart, should it be cut then?

 

I like the model updates, especially Suburst looks much better now.

Oh no, that's the worst part - the traces are still technically there, just so muted they might as well not be. The result is a half-brick-half-lozenge... thing.

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards this point of view.

In my opinion the Sunburst and Moonhawk now look 100% better...

And the other vehicle changes, whilst subtle, look so much better too!

 

Who agrees that the look of the eSBR suits a SBR4 facelift more than an electric SBR4...

Not necessarily, the Front End especially has a very futuristic, modern touch, as do the three new Rims.

What I hope for though, is that Either of the GPSes in the eSBR Get Removed (Preferably the Old one) making the Dash a little Cleaner, as well as a Facelift Package, i.e. either new Exhaust and Bumper style to accommodate the pipes, or an Exhaust Package that fits behind or under the new Bumper. A ICE variant of the new Dashboard would be Amazing too. Also I would greatly reduce the Time Axis for the Power Graph on the Range Screen, and maybe step down the Power Axis to a more Reasonable 500kW. At the moment, I feel like the Power Graph is Slow, unresponsive, hard to Read and thus a little pointless. Maybe Make Use of the old Navigation Screen for that. Or put more Telemetry Details there.

The Regenerative Braking, Weight of the batteries and new Driving Dynamics, as well as the Dash in general are astonishing though.I hope that there will be more time dedicated into fleshing out the idea of the eSBR, because I feel at the moment it's Certainly a Diamond in the Rough.

That's most likely what the Devs thought. And I believe that most Electric Cars have two Seperate Torque Curves/ESC Settings for Reversing, as the car behaves completely different when reversing. Afaik the Tesla Model S becomes Fully FWD in Reverse (with the Front wheels referring to the Actual Front Wheels) to improve maneuvering.

Nngh... We need a fully Rear Wheel Steering Kit for the eSBR/SBR4 now though. We shall Call it SBR4 - Ultimate Forklift Edition

 

Anyone notice the Hillclimb is more oversteery than 0.15
