I got some pictures of the presentation but they all have my face in it(and most of them aren't great pictures of my face either ). Therefore you will have to do it with the one I showed earlier. The club is trying to get younger members and I will probably help them with that. We have to see what the target group is and then see what we are going to do then. Could be a facebook page, instagram, will see. Since I'm going to visit the MG TD-racer tomorrow, I am making a list of questions for him now. I will probably write some kind of update on friday because tomorrow will probably be very late.
So I visited Mr. Pardon yesterday. It took me a bit over 2 hours to get there so that wasn't that bad for the distance driven. We talked about his racing career and he showed me his books with pictures, times and notes of each track day/practice or race session. He bought his RHD MG TD 49 years ago and used it to race and to drive to the circuit. Over the years he went to many circuits in the Benelux, France and the UK. He told me about the differences in culture between drivers from various countries and their modifications. In those years, he slowly built his car to make it faster, reliable and safer. He changed the bench seat for Simca seats, replaced the wooden floor with aluminium, different fenders and other modifications. To make it handle better he installed lower springs all around the car, telescopic dampers on the rear axle(not on the front because of the rules), installed an anti-sway bar and longer lower arms to gain more negative camber to compensate the understeer of the anti-sway bar. Due to the rules, his wheels were 1 inch wider than stock and the drum brakes were bigger as well. The engine block, crankshaft and connecting rods are stock. The engine used to make ~100hp on a blend of petrol and alcohol around 7000rpm. Keep in mind that this is a pushrod 1.25L i4 designed before the second world war! In order to achieve this, many things were changed. The car when it was younger. The rollbar was not high enough and has been modified so his helmet would be below the radiator-rollbar line. The car does not have this engine in it anymore. Because he could not get alcohol easily, he decided to swap a Ford engine and 5-spd gearbox in it so he could drive it without having to worry about the availability of fuel. The rollbar and the blue-green colour are also gone, it's red currently and he reattached the windscreen and installed a softtop so he can still use it. It also has disc brakes in the front now. I measured some things on his car and got some ideas for the racing version and after 5 hours, I went back south to attend the monthly regional MG TTO meeting. Which is hosted in a small car museum called Autosalon Doornhoek. All added together, it was 4.5hrs of driving and 450km... Refueling hurt. Today, after changing the sounds of the Fintray, I decided to try to make the new lower arms(using beamcompression and some simple math so the camber would change as well) and added an anti-sway bar: I also changed the stage 1 and 2 tunes and added a stage 4 tune to replicate Mr. Pardon's car.
Very interesting, i love 1950s-ish race cars. MG took a very "Morgan" approach to style with the TD. Now a moment, for who cares, of story time with Coy. One of my grandpa's friend, in the 1950s used to race with a abarth tuned fiat 1400 sedan and he remembers that those english light sports cars, with almost half the weight, half the power and the rear suspetion of the Cugnot's car gave real issues to his powerfull and heavy fiat-abarth (He used to race these in the raticosa pass race, near bologna) Have an immage of this glorious and forgotten luxury fiat (this is an immage of the slightly different mille miglia version, his ran Bologna plates and was dark blue)
Dude, massive respect for the amount of time, energy, and money you're putting into making this car as true to life as possible. This is truly a labor of love...
i dont know too much about british car manufacturers but i think MG is Morgan. also great job bljo on getting your car to the front page of the magazine
MG (aka Morris Garages) was founded in 1922 and was the morris performance division untill the morris group was absobed by BMC in 1952, before that morgan and MG never had anything to do with each other
Redid the ute's body jbeam and chassis to keep it up to date with the normal variant. I might simplify it a little bit in some areas(lower front of the body) but it works quite decently right now:
Jesus Christ, this is amazing. I never thought I would be reading the last few updates when I clicked on this thread. I can't wait to see this car driven, and maybe drive it myself. This must be an amazing mod, even at this point if it was released.
So, time for a small poll thing: Currently one can choose between no seats and the normal bench seat. I am going to add racing seats that are based on Simca Rallye seats. As you can imagine, the normal seat is very annoying when driving fast because you have no sides that keep you from sliding around. The Simca seats solve this because they are bucket seats. At this moment, the driver cam is an option located under the body slot. You can choose between driver cam on the frame and on the seats. They are both decently rigid but since the seats can fall out, the driver can fall out as well when you use the camera on seats option: current situation I kinda want to make the racing seats feel better than the normal seats so they won't be just a visual upgrade. My idea is to combine these slots and do the following: Have a seat and driver camera slot in the body with the following options: No seats, driver camera on the frame. This camera will be very rigid and coupled to the frame underneath the body. Stock seats, driver camera on the seats. This camera will be able to slide around and move a bit under cornering. This will involve a lot of tuning but I hope this gives a nice realistic feel. (or headache if I fail) This would be the default option. Race seats. The camera will be on the seats but attached quite rigid. These seats will be able to fall off, just like the default ones. What do you think? Please like the post if you want to use the new system and rate it as informative if you want to keep it as it was.

I have been working on the sounds and the race version for a bit: It sounds different now, way lower and louder as well. But apart from that, no progress because I have been busy IRL: -Had to renew my first aid certificate(every two years) -A lot of work for uni -Attended a training for the scouts(I am a cub scout leader). It was about organising a camp and the things that can happen there. The training was from friday afternoon until lunch on sunday. It was really interesting, I learned a few things about fire safety and how to deal with really bad accidents. The chance that things like that happen is really low but you want to be prepared. What I also learned is that other groups organise their summer camps completely differently and that our group is very good with planning stuff like that. I also got a few compliments because of my improvising skills and my creativity when we had to come up with programs and themes for camps. And of course, I passed the training Personally, I think it is important to work on things like that and voluntary work is something important for me. You learn new things, get in contact with other people and it's fun to make people happy . Whether that is with the scouts, soccer or something else, give it a try .
