What cars do you find cheaper than you would expect? In Poland, it's Mk3 (2000-2006) Ford Mondeos. Yes, they are aged, but not that aged. That rather good midsize car can now be bought at as low as 1500 PLN (€350, $400) for a worn, but roadworthy one, to 3000 PLN (€700, $800) for a decent daily driver, to 6000 PLN (€1400, $1600) for a quite nice one. Well, at least I know why there are so many Mk3 Mondeo beaters. They sell for beater money.
The 2019 Dacia Sandero... the cheapest new car on the European market. £6,995 I think Jeremy Clarkson reviewed it. It seems to be a fairly decent car!
YD1 and YD2 MDXs are actually way cheaper than the YD3. They usually cost less than 15k in most situations, so they're relatively more common because of their affordable price.
In the US, Honda Civics are quite cheap for what you get in them feature-wise. I got one largely because of that. That might be partly why its the most popular car in my area.
