So it says quite clearly in rules that on topic replies to old threads is fine and not considered bumping: https://wiki.beamng.com/Forum_Rules Download rules as a free mod https://www.beamng.com/threads/bumping-rules.62237/#post-1021386 Also it states that screaming bump is very much of don't do that. Quite frequently I see people still screaming bump. So I'm curious if those people are aware of these rules?
useless thread imo. if you dont read the rules before you use a forum you shouldnt be allowed onto the forum
Yes, but every day there are quite many of those who don't read the rules or completely ignore them, there are even some who quote said rules and then go about and post about bumping on other thread, so obviously those persons should know, what is interesting bit is why they still ignore that part of the rule? Those persons have read the rules, so by your definition they should be allowed to forum, but then they don't follow bumping rules part of the rule which kinda goes against that though of should not be allowed on forums if not read the rules. You don't find that puzzling?
I think there should be a quick video that you have to watch that explains the Dos and Don'ts before you are allowed to be on the forums. That would be nice to have.
That is nice idea, there are certainly people who are not so good at reading walls of text, but get things from video much better. Of course making such takes time which is not so plentiful among moderators, but I'm thinking again that some youtubers might come up with really fun BeamNG content way to deliver such information.
Not really. It just means that when you do break a rule, it is 100% your fault for not reading them. On a forum like this one where the rules are pretty simple, there isn't really an excuse to not read them at least once. Personally, I review them occasionally just to be sure on any forum I post on. Also, moderators can and do (on most forums) issue warnings to remind people of rules when its a minor issue.
Also bumping rules (help, there is no cure) (improved a bit) --- Post updated --- Credits to BeamNG, I just made metal box more crappy, probably has lot of bugs, don't change weight, probably does not work, but at least you can play with rules. Update: You can get it from Repo now, have a good laugh, build memes, create puns, whatever creates happiness for you : https://www.beamng.com/resources/forum-rules-cube.8458/
thats kinda what i mean though. if you arent forced to read the rules before your allowed on, the "excuse" everybody uses when they break something is "oh I didnt know" yeah because you didnt read the rules. I like the idea of having to watch a video, though.
I think forum rules cube is enough funny and useful that it could go to repo, not sure if that is accepted though, but I think it can be useful for video making purposes too: Life just would be too boring without some crazy stuff like that
Yeah I'm finding it to be really common, it's more annoying to read (unless the bump was a post like "I agree" or "is this dead?") Another thing I don't like is how some people respond to maybe a mistake by a new user: they use anecdotal jokes (SoonTM) or rant on how the forums have gone to waste. It doesn't help the person in how to make said forum experience much better, it sort of just humiliates them. Also it sometimes turns into a circlejerk with multiple people voicing the same anger or cracking jokes/humiliating a user. How would you feel if you suddenly got 5 responses to a post you made from people ranting about how you are ruining the forums, wouldn't you feel confused? How would you feel if your name became the laughing stock of many users?Unwelcome? That's my 2 cents here.
Never, I'm one of those boring absolute types as you can probably tell, but by the cube this is going off-topic
