So, it has come to my attention that we have a problem: the more we pester the devs, the more problems we end up with. So, to avoid widespread butthurt, we need to: Stop the "༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ GIMME GIMME GIMME SLIDENODES" until AFTER the Race Update. Not pester the devs for a premature Race Update release. There's a good reason it's taking so long: Have you heard what they are doing? They are: Completely rewriting much of the game. Making not one, but TWO new cars Translating the game to various languages. Making a new, innovative web-based UI. Porting the game to Linux and OpenGL WIDESPREAD BUG FIXES! HOORAY!!! Not ask them for constant blog updates. They have lives outside of BeamNG, and it's unfair to ask them to put them on hold every day, just to write a few words about progress on the update THAT THEY MAY NOT HAVE MADE YET. It's really nice that they set aside ANY TIME AT ALL to work on the update, and we should be thankful. Be patient. The Race Update will be done when it's done, and we should make the most of the wait. Keep making cool mods to keep the community occupied and happy. Not hate on people because they made a crappy skin. We need to make an environment where people will want to learn and make better skins and mods, instead of just shutting them down. All in all, I think that if we do all that, we can continue to enjoy BeamNG while we wait for the update, and for a very long time after the update. Thanks for taking the time to read this
Cheers to this thread. I think the devs are fine. They know what they are into and it's obvious their passion on this is quite solid. None the less, it gets tiresome seeing the "gimme, gimme" demands made by noobs. I haven't forgot that I too was that way when I got my hands on this. Some folks have the DNA to understand this process, some don't. Personally, it will take me decades if ever, to get bored with this gem of a program. Being patient for me is never going to be a problem because I just do not have the time to devote to it. Just being able to modify a vehicles beam deform and break strength values and set up a specific object to crash it into gets me hours of enjoyment. Again, best twenty bucks I've ever spent. Some folks just don't get it.
Sticker this thread Naah but all that GIMME SLIDENODES isn't it more of a joke? I don't think devs are pulling hairs because of that. Just wanted to point that out. But valid point and all They have all sorts of business brewing, linux port what i readed ?
The only "slight" disagreement that I have with this post is that the devs made the decision to charge Beamng Drive alpha (promising a complete game in the future), they invited criticism on the lengthy delay of updates. Buyers want to know that the the devs are working on the devolopment of this game and consistent updates are a good indicator that they are doing so. I'm probably older than most of you so paying $15-$20 for a alpha - I accepted that this game may take a long time to complete - if ever. You're not going to hear complaints from me. But I understand why consistent updates are important to others. I bought Nascar the Game 2013 for PC by Eutechntyx last summer $35.00. It was a pre-release beta. The devs promised frequent updates and improvements. The game was shit from day one and only got worse. After a couple of updates, the devs just gave up, leaving a lot of people pissed off (including me). Then shortly thereafter they announce NTG 2014. I hear it's a lot better than NTG 13, but of course, you have to pay $40 to get what should have been a series of NTG 13 updates. They will never get my $$$ again. So I get it. People get burned. I certainly don't think that is going to be the case with Beamng Drive. But lack of consitent updates imply lack of development. So again, I empathize with those that want to know what's going on. It's par for the course.
I'm talking about his old name. I'm not a huge fan of it. Kinda unnecessary. But yea his new name is pretty clever.
