Will BeamNG ever include a crash test dummy to put in the driver seat?

Anyone remember those toys from the 90s? They were actually pretty big and I think had a cartoon too. But wouldn't it be cool to be able to see the effect of the crash on a driver with a dummy? They have the physics for the car so I think making a ragdoll could be a walk in the park for them :)

    There's a mod for it. https://www.beamng.com/resources/driver-passengers-and-loads.2906/

I'd say forget a dummy. I'd like to see actual animated/ragdoll drivers taking damage in collisions and reacting to the forces of acceleration. For those who don't want to see human violence in this game, let it be a game option. While I'm used to the empty, "self-driving" cars in BeamNG I'd like to have the option of a visible driver (not a dummy mod).

Most parts of the interior - steering wheel, often seats - are non-collidable. Glass doesn't really "break", it just looks like broken.

Very difficult to simulate a crash dummy properly, when the cabin it should interact with is pretty much non-simulated yet.

I would hate to see BeamNG.Drive get an M rating because it has the option to do so.

Next thing we know, we'll have to put in a secret code to unlock the driver option ala Mortal Kombat Blood Code.

Exaggerating much? I don't know what country you live in but at least in the US these are non-issues.

Well, European PEGI rating would likely rise with the just introduction of dummies, from PEGI7 to PEGI13.

Well, it definitely wouldn't rise to M-rated as there still would be no gore, blood, breakable bones etc. but it probably would change from the current one to something bit higher

I kinda doubt that. Look at the kind of backlash GTA games get, and they're already M rated games. If anything I'd argue that the US is sensitive to that kind of stuff.

As for the topic at hand, I'm fine with actual humans being absent, that I can see being a problem, but crash test dummies to me seems not to be the same issue as a real human person. Crash test dummies are not real people, and I think it's safe to say people would expect to see them in situations like that. What do they see in crash test videos after all?

I think GTA is in a league of its own. There the issue isn't just violence but what you do with the violence. It's one thing to see blood and gore in games, which is very common, and quite another to beat up or kill innocent people.

Anyway, this issue isn't actually all that important to me. Mainly I want to see improved AI in BeamNG. But having a human driver would be nice, especially if the driver reacts to the forces of the vehicle. If the devs want to keep the gore limited, say just render some bruising on the driver but no dismemberment & blood splatter, I'd be fine with that. But I would like to have a health meter for the driver and I think it would be interesting to see what crashes are deadly and how seatbelts & airbags, if present, help in the crash.

I am here late to reply but thank you for this! I will check it out! ;)

That would be ideal... i figured they dont want the game to have to process a person's physics, i thought maybe a crashtest dummy could be easier on the cpu... no clue, was just throwing out ideas but if they get actual people with ragdoll, that would be amazing.

good point, do you think the game could handle it all?

yeah i also suggested to use dummies because it doesn't affect the game and who can play it. I used to play with the crash test dummy toys when i was a kid in the 90s lol

WHY don't put on a true person instead of dummies in the game ?

I wouldn't mind a dummy with realtime statistics just like the IIHS. It would be really cool if it had a liveable/unliveable realtime crash status readout.

Yeah. When I play Beam, I do not want to see blended human being after I smash into a wall at 100mph.
I definitely do not need that nightmare fuel, seeing the inside of a Burnside coated in giblets after I fall off of a cliff. No thanks.

BeamNG has no conception of "Tesla Model X or S" properties for each vehicle. Do You think that a Moonhawk or a Sunburst have autopilot ?
