I've seen and heard from many of you, about making file changes (modifying the size of a wheel for example) while the game is open and seeing updates in real-time. I have had absolutely zero luck doing this, as I get the notification "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" via WinRAR diagnostic messages. I'm just now really getting into my own mods after playing the game literally since the beginning of time. Help mee! So many things to do, and I've had to close and re-open the game too many times...

So I can make changes to vehicles and inspect the changes without having to close and re-open the game.

I don't think that updating the file's stats while running makes sense. For me, It always says used by something.
Also, shouldn't you post this in the troubleshooting, bugs and support section?

Here's an old link of something similar to my example, yes, there is a use for this, and it's extremely handy. Also, maybe I should've, but this is the "general discussions" section, which my question could fall under either or. I would've rather not have posted in the "Troubleshooting" section in the event that it wasn't the right place. Therefor, "General" would fit the bill regardless. Let's not stray from topic now.

I mean, maybe not. But I assumed that it was something regarding MY pc that I would make changes to in order to make this possible. I'm not getting the notification from "BeamNG" afterall, it's WinRAR stopping me from doing so.

I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the thing you want to achieve, but you have to unpack your mod (go to mods ingame, find your mod, click on it & press Unpack; then let the game do its thing & work on the unpacked one. To reload your mod in real-time you press Ctrl + R

This worked. Thank you. Another question... Say I wanted to modify the Alder Dragger wheels, where could I find those files? I've looked and cannot find the Alder Dragger wheel files.

back in the day, you were able to open, for example, the engine.jbeam and make changes, save the file, then go back to the game (while it is still running) and press ctrl+R to get the game to "reload" then the changes were realized...seems as though you can't do that anymore, I havent really tried figuring out why tho, I have been just restarting the game after making changes. It might have something to do with the fact the car's files are in a .zip file, whereas back in the day the game would just load the cars from plain old file folders. So that might be why you cant do it anymore, something to do with the zip file management of the game being implemented.

lol if I would have read the above comment explaining how to do it, then yea that's the answer then, and thanks for pointing that out (unpacking and doing it that way).

I cannot find ANY of the Alder "Dragger" wheel files. I've looked 4 maybe 5 times... If any of you could point me towards the correct folder containing them, it would be significantly appreciated...

If I remember correctly the .dae’s should be in a file called wheels.dae, jbeam in wheels.jbeam etc. The file names are very generic and you will find what you need in these files.

I can’t tell you the exact ones as I am away from my PC atm.

the best thing to do is open all of the "wheels.jbeam" files in notepad++, then just use ctrl+F and search "dragger".
