Does PostFX blur make the game less laggy?

    Do you mean the DoF (Depth of Field) effect in particular?
    If so, yes. Since your GPU dosenĀ“t need to render each distant object (Trees, houses etc) as highly detailed, it gets less utilization.
    Adding a layer of fog also reduces GPU work load since it covers alot of foliage etc.

    No, that's incorrect.
    That's a PostFX effect, it gets added on top of a base scene.
    Everything is still rendered, and then blurred afterward.

    If everything, that's one operation more the renderer has to do (blurring stuff), but it's also pretty inexpensive performance-wise.
