Modelling wise, I would suggest turning the electric motor 90 degrees sideways, so the direction of rotation lines up with the gearbox.
Also, does anyone know how to make an electric motor work with a manual gearbox? I've tried a few combinations, and it never works for me.

    Motor→clutch→sequential
Remember to uncheck options→gameplay→clutch assist before loading the vehicle

I've tried that, but for some reason the power doesn't want to go from the trans to the torsion reactor. the gear selector also isn't showing up in the UI.
    any ideas?

Did you define the gear ratios? What's inside your jbeam? You may refer to a sequenial transmission jbeam to find out what the problem is.

Just wondering if it be all wheel drive? Because that would be cool.

I can't help you much with getting the thing ingame because I don't know jbeam at all, but I have only one tip for you... Remove the gearbox, as it's not needed & it doesn't connect to the electric motor like that. The halfshafts should come out from "thing" at the front of the electric motor & hook up to the wheels; no gearbox needed

well its elekric so i will avoid it like any real one
it basicaly kills the fun and the feel off any real car...

i think you should shrink it and make a toy rc car out of it with a antenna on top
    then it would make sense

    just an opinion

i don't like electrics in real life too, but in beamng it's always nice to see variety of cars with all the body/drivetrain/weight possibility so i really like this idea of an electric city car :) (i won't go in your electric inferiority debate ;))

Just a few things I’d like to point out as someone who likes electric vehicles-

Take Teslas for an example. They have excellent safety, good handling (not “like a brick”) with a low center of gravity, a variety of battery packs and trims offering different performance, very environmentally friendly compared to gasoline powered vehicles (and also rated at roughly 130 MPGe if I recall correctly, and producing under half the emissions of a gas-powered equivalent according to the Union of Concerned Scientists), the list goes on and on. I’m no Neil DeGrasse Einstein, but I’ve done some research on electric cars.
