I like the graphics the way they are obviously need a bit more done to it. But I would like to see the performance improve before adding raytracing or anything like that. The physics of the game is more important at the moment. They will probably add better graphics when their done. I'm not sure but I think they would have to redo the hole graphics engine to do that. and that would take a long time to do. It best just to get the main games physics done first before doing that kind of work and getting the optimizations to run more the one core per vehicle. EDIT: thats what I think anyway P.S devs keep up the good work ))
Saying the "graphics suck" isn't helpful. Besides, they don't suck. They are mostly good. But there are elements that could be improved. I can think of 2 immediate ones: * Mirror reflections are very low-res, even at the highest setting. Allow a higher-res reflection texture. * Mip-mapping is overdone on many maps, where road lines disappear into a blur in the distance. This just looks bad. Other than that the game looks sharp I'd say. Interiors are downright beautiful.
the graphics should be improved...I don't want the devs to leave the graphics bit to the modders --- Post updated --- This is kinda off topic but I want the cars to atleast open\close the doors, trunk and hood...like the satsuma mod --- Post updated --- u just read my mind
The biggest problem is that the physics core tied to the frames, if you cannot get a stable 25+FPS your physics will not be real-time. The BeamNG does not calculate physics and render frames separately. I dunno why.
That's not quite how it works. If your fps is below 20, the game will intentionally slow down physics to try and keep a stable fps. It can render frames and calculate physics separately, but if the physics is tanking it will slow it down so the player gets something usable, instead of a slideshow.
But if you are only getting 25 fps you should consider investing in a new pc fairly cheap stuff like older ryzen cpus and 10 series 50 ti or 60 gpus do the job just fine
Not necessarily true, different members of the development team specialise in different areas, for example sebaudio and TDK do not make vehicles and/or maps. Plus just yesterday tdev mentioned this: So graphics improvements (possibly even PBR) may be coming in the future However I do understand your original point, that you feel it's a waste of resources to focus on graphics.
tbf i find BeamNG's problem is that AA off it is too sharp, AA on it's blurry as heck, like adding vaseline to a camera.. Also you have to remember BeamNG is like 15gb max.. FH3 is like 50gb+ they are in a different class..
I found that upscaling the resolution with NVIDIA's DSR factors helps a lot. I've been using a 1080p monitor but rendering it at 4k. It's essentially running the game at 4k so you'll need a decent pc. You'll also need to enable GPU UI rendering before you upscale to prevent freezes.
I wish there was some sort of option to get the older lighting/shadows back. Everything looked crisper to me, the sun was brighter, the shadows were better, etc. With tonemapping and bloom added to the old lighting.. It would just look insane.
Did you try the other AA modes? We have both FXAA and SMAA (Options > Graphics > 'Custom' Overall Quality to show them) The first is older and gives the most blurry result, as it tends to blur the whole image. The first is newer and gives better results, as it tries to blur only edges. (from 0.5.6 changelog) Performance wise there is not perceptible difference.
There is a noticeable improvement thx, but i still prefer AA off, i do the same in all my games so i think it's just my preference, but there is an improvement between FXAA and SMAA
I don't know if this is graphics related but the games own cars should have the option to atleast open/close the hood, trunk and doors.LIKE THE SATSUMA MOD
Try AA options in Nvidia controlpanel, playing with those I found bit better end result, UI off that is, but haven't tested what happens with hardware accelerated UI yet.
I think i just don't like AA, on the whole, far away objects are improved slightly, but still edges to fonts can be blurred a bit, i normally find non antialiased to be more sharp.. personal preference.
