I can say you make far more sense than what MrAnnoyingDude did. I had trouble interpreting what he said. I do agree that not every car at that time had vertical bumper bars, but it still seems odd to me to say that they became a thing of the past at that time. It probably would've been better to say that they saw some kind of hiatus. As for the Bluebuck, I don't really think that the vertical bars on the Bluebuck's bumpers stands out all that much, and I would speculate that most likely not all of the Bluebuck's configs will have them. We do have yet to see all of its configurations and available parts. Funny you should mention the Dodge 880. It's actually been speculated that it was used as a basis for the Bluebuck, along with the Chevrolet Impala.
Bluebuck seems like a modified Impala frame with an 880 body to me. 880 had options for subtle bumper bars, other chevy's at the time had pronounced bumper bars. As long as the bumper bars are only on a minority of stock configs, it seems historical. They might be a bit big but not to the point of being a problem.
Given some of the color changes from the latest update, I'm hoping that the "light brown" color in the selector would be changed to a color that makes more sense and would look good on the Bluebuck (apologies if I derail the thread with that Bluebuckaroo), such as something along the lines of these:
Just to throw this out there because I derby, and many of the full size cars and bumpers used for derbies DO have vertical bumper bump stops, i had to enlighten you... Look up practically any full size 71-76 Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Chevy(74/76(and their bumpers) are some of the most prolific derby cars of all time), Pontiac, Ford vehicles(mercury/lincoln included), and a few Mopar vehicles. Then we get into 77-91(the box era).. again, the same vehicles. Panther platform(Crown vic, towncar, grand marquis), "metric" GMs, and a few mopars. Of course it depends on the trim packages on whether they had them or not, but most of these cars as base models had the bump stops, especially in the 80s.
I already made a post in the bluebuck thread showing examples of two cars from 1963 (and after) that had them, isnt that enough to prove it to you? And even more examples 63 Studebaker 63 Impala 63 Galaxie Like I said before, they should be optional, but there are plenty that exist...
Can we stop derailing the thread with the debate on the bumper bars? The Bluebuck is going to have them at least as an option and that is that. They are realistic for the time and have been on the bumper since the model was first shown.
*popcorn* OT: It would be cool to see a RHD export version. Talking about the BuBu, not PBR. The Impala did. I'm just saying this to have something on topic to add. I still want EU/NA/JDM spec versions of cars, the license plates were a nice start.
Yes, like here in Australia Holden did make ( or assemble them here ) But a RHD seems VERY unlikely . Maybe for the Japaneses cars
Yeah, realistically we will not be getting that since it is a very random thing, but export Impala's of this year did get RHD so there is the historical precedence if we ever get export versions of official cars.
Some news on career mode. Nothing exciting, it seems career mode is still in the prototype stage. Also career mode will be 'more or less' getting cars from a junk yard and street racing for money.
So that much hasn't changed since the steam greenlight video, that's good to know. I wonder if it'll still be "like SLRR but with more types of racing". I really hope to see somewhat more realistic racing styles, where the end game racing is properly done with real car classes and all. If it is, the rate of vehicle production would be an issue (many classes might end up only having one vehicle. Example, right now we only have one modern rally car), so I fear it might be "show up at a racing club and opponents are chosen by performance class". I can't stress enough how much I do not want things to be based purely on performance class, racing a top spec Autobello against a sport '96 Pessima would just feel wrong.
Modern vehicle production rate is a pretty big issue, and I think they'd either have to bundle like 5 vehicles with career mode for a 1.0 "Mega-release," or release career mode waaay in the future when those cars are added gradually. With the current set of vehicles, there would be too much racing of late 80's/early 90' econoboxes and not enough racing of sports cars, and muscle cars, which is more marketable and admittedly more fun.
The thing that kind of annoys me is they could widen the vehicle choice massively if they would just add more to the current vehicle selection. Facelifts, body styles, and export versions would all be easy ways to widen the variety. Sure it wouldn't do as much as adding a bunch of new cars, but it would he a lot easier. I would rather race a mixed field of Sunburst hatchbacks and sedans instead of all sedans; have the choice of a ute for a delivery mission instead of just the D-Series, etc... Now that most behicle features are in, hopefully pace will pick up. They may do what Wreckfest did and dump a ton of not particularly innovative cars just before career mode and keep trickling them in. I'm not trying to sound entiled/impatient/etc, I can wait for more vehicles. But I am very concerned for how career mode will turn out when we get to that point if this pace continues.
