I have played BeamNG since about 2014 and on of my favorite maps was and still is Dry Rock Island. I get that it is not on the same level of quality has the other newer maps in the game now but i still feel like it should be brought back has official content and not just the mod. I feel that removing it was a mistake and i know others agree with me( yes i know some do not) but i think that with a little help it can be brought back has a great map for the game.its already a great map it just could use some tweaks to get it up to par with the rest of the game. Would the devs if i started a petition and got enough signatures bring it back?

Jungle rock island is the non mod version, Dry rock was depreciated because jungle rock island was the replacement.

There is the mod version in the repo, I remember that a guy had the patience to make AI paths for it, but I don't know where you can get that. The map was removed because it was completely re-done as a new map (Jungle Rock Island), so if you want an updated version, it's already in the game.
Please don't ask to bring back to the game old stuff that was deprecated years ago, when it's available for free as a mod.

Dry Rock Island was not very performance friendly compared to the other maps at the time IIRC. Jungle Rock Island is what replaced it. You can just download the repository version if you want it that much.

I know on my computer (Ryzen 5, 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, M.2 SSD) it hits my FPS harder than Utah but not as hard as WCA or Italy. However it is in a really sorry state. The road is so rough that it feels like an FFB glitch, and the curves need smoothing badly. The road textures also look way too new for how worn-out and smashed-up they're supposed to be. It needed so much work to fix that they decided to just make a new map, even if the layouts are nothing alike.

It's a nice map, but it shows its age in a time where all the content needs to be updated. Even JRI shows its age and needs to be updated, which itself is officially the DRI replacement. This is no "just a few tweaks" process, this is a complete redo. Which we already have. It doesn't make sense for a company to introduce content lower in quality than old standards in a time when they are trying to get standards up. The game is approaching version 1.0, lowering standards is the opposite of what they should be doing at any point, especially now.

Jungle Rock Island is not a proper replacement for Dry Rock Island. The only thing they share is the environment, and even that is a stretch. Jungle Rock is a dense tropical jungle whereas Dry Rock is much less dense and tropical. In terms of gameplay, the maps are completely different. Dry Rock Island has a large mix of roads and trails. You have high speed paved roads, high speed rally trails, and technical off road trails. Jungle Rock only has high speed paved and rally roads, and some light off road trails. Jungle Rock Island is much more restrictive than Dry Rock Island was. In Dry Rock, you could explore and find small trails or hidden areas. There were open fields to play in and beaches to cruise on and wreck on. I particularly loved the abandoned road on one of the coasts, that was a fun discovery to find. Jungle Rock has none of that. What you see is what you get. There is very little to explore and find, the best is the hidden beach on one corner. There are no fields or good beaches to cruise on.

Dry Rock still is, and always will be, superior.

Dry Rock Island is similar to Hawaii, and Jungle Rock Island is similar to Taiwan. Two completely different places all together, thus JRI is not a replacement for DRI.

While I loved DRI (I make sure every new car that comes out has at least one drive on it) it was really rough. But DRI is superior to JRI.JRI just feels too enclosed like WCUSA but its even worse for JRI due to it's setting. JRI your suppose to explore but theirs like 5 places to explore and they are super small (even ECUSA has more impressive ones).

Hopefully the "Map Upgrades" will bring JRI and the other underdeveloped maps to their fullest potential.
