Any made before 2000, post 2000 seems to have 100% failure rate in my own experience. Pretty much every single Opel I've had my own hands on, family have had hands on, friends have had hands on, boyfriends family and friends have had fans on has gone wrong in done way. With the most hilarious being an astra with 30 miles on the clock having full airbag deployment while parked, the most horrifying being the meriva power steering sensor failures which threw mums friend into a pole at 50mph breaking a few bones in process --- Post updated --- Mine,never got a tank of fuel through it without something going wrong, like the ABS controller failing (did so many times), an injector dying or a brake binding (always the same brake, even after it was completely replaced). I know someone's whose went up in flames because Opel were refusing to recall them for a fuel hose issue. Stepdad got a brand new insignia, that went back for warranty work over a dozen times.

Maybe it's UK RHD models that have such issues? Here in Poland, Opels do much better in terms of reliability.
Considering they recalled them across all of Europe and Australia for the power steering and fire issues, doubtful, also all the issues we had with the insignia have been heard of with the Buick regal badged variants. Clearly not just UK issues. Hell, the Corsa I had, there's almost 0 difference between a lhd and rhd model and most of the parts come from LHD production lines
That's strange, because you don't really see or hear of these issues in Poland. Opels don't have a great reputation, but they ain't bad either.
Having asked a Polish colleague, he seems to agree with me that they're the worst cars around. Funny that. But then his one, totally fine, till he pulled away from a junction and the steering column snapped.
In my part of the country, they're seen as OK cars. Not good, but not bad or expensive either. Worth buying, but don't expect much.
Most of Oples are boring, grey, plastics, un personal like Vectra or Astra, Sorsa.. I like Senator B and the idea of 5,7l V8 Chevy on it
The Chevy-engined Opel was the Diplomat. Either way, the big Opels actually exhibited a similar philosophy - a value-oriented, uncomplicated middle-of-the-road car. Only that luxury car buyers wanted a bit more frivolity than that.
Yea but in Australia you get Holden what ever kangaroo with 5,7 Chevy and it's basicly same car, same body
