I prefer the Mafia approach to roads, which is that there simply are no roads going outside the map. Seems less forced than another barrier.
For me, it doesn't matter on large maps but smaller maps can start to feel claustrophobic without it. Either way, B25Mitch mentioned that he prefers having blocked off exits when he made WCUSA, so there's at least one dev who would probably want to see those additions. In which case, I hope ECUSA does not get coated in construction sites like WCUSA is
Thank you both I've just watched the video and I might be wrong but isn't that a new camera mode? It could just be the replay function with synsol following the car, Idk.
Some of the devs (mostly Synsol) have some great mods that I really wish would be official content...
I don't like when there are no roads leading outside the map, it's creepy and damaging to the lore. Personally, I prefer when there are visibly unblocked roads, but they are unreachable because there's either an invisible wall or a point where you get teleported back to the map. However, I suspect many people would find that weird, so I consider roads blocked by barriers an acceptable compromise.
I think it's just Synsol following the car, as the camera movements seem pretty manual. Having "natural" barriers (such as construction) seems more realistic than an invisible wall or an abrupt terrain cutoff.
Oh my god. Very few of you know how aggressively I have fought for the map upgrades, with countless threads, posts, and even bringing it up in person a few years ago. I don't have any words for how I feel right now. It's updated ECA, it actually looks like Maine, and I am absolutely floored. I couldn't care less about the Bluebuck right now. It's not just ECA getting this treatment, Industrial Site, Port, Small Island, Derby Arenas, Hirochi Raceway (Since they're doing ECA they're probably doing it too), and possibly JRI. Imagine all of that, basically 7 new maps and a new car, in one update. 0.15 eat your heart out, this is the DEFINITIVE update.
Again, I would be cautious. I am a little concerned that the community focuses too heavily on maps and not enough on the official vehicles. The Bluebuck is going to be epic.
The Bluebuck will be epic. However, the map upgrades will significantly change the game more than any recent feature. I'd even go to say that updated maps are going to have more of an impact than Italy. Basically, it appears that the older maps (possibly 7 of them, 5 are confirmed at this point) are being brought to Italy quality levels. Let that sink in.
So now all the maps can run like shit on my laptop. Hooray! Good thing I have a GTX 1080 Ti that's about to get a Ryzen 3950X.
A lot of optimization has been done to the game engine, and a lot more can be done to map design. I'm willing to bet that "do not meaningfully effect FPS" is probably a major criteria in these map redesigns. By the looks of things lots of trees and ground clutter is being removed, along with new buildings that will probably be better optimized than the original buildings. I highly doubt you will lose any FPS.
It's not even sure that all the 5 (or 7) updated maps gonna be released at the se moment, maybe ECUSA and Port gonna be released, then other maps after (for example)
