We've seen screens of ECA, Port, Industrial Site, Derby Arenas, and Small Islands (The latter four were shown last year, they are probably far further in development than when they were last shown.

Hirochi Raceway and ECA are usually paired together too.

JRI is the only other map (besides gridmap?) that has seen a large amount of time since it has been released.

Does Utah is going to be updated too ? Cuz it's a cool map with an awesome height variation, getting an improved version of this map would be awesome !

It is not confirmed to be getting updates. What needs to be improved on Utah anyway? Sure it isn't up to the quality of Italy, but it's still good. The only thing I would change is do something about the random iscolated tourist building, the empty parkinglot where Bob(?) needs that crate delivered to in A Rocky Start, and a gas station.

Huh. I wouldn't bet on that. We might not have any full-size 1970s sedans, but the closest related options in 0.17 would be the 1960s Bluebuck (assuming it does get released) and the 1990s Grand Marshal.

I think the Beaufort would come maybe not eventually, but not as soon as I had initially implied in my post. But, again, that would be a decision on the devs' part. Maybe it would be a suitable addition to the game for various reasons; a 1970s police car or taxi would be pretty nice, actually.

I would love an older Grand Marshall (and a GM trim Bluebuck), that would allow so many iconic options (taxi, police car, stock car, derby). The issue is it would just get awkward with stepping on the toes of the Codename Fullsize, being one of the few mod vehicles that are at the quality level it is. A Moonhawk sedan could fill most, if not all, of those options just as well though.

a grand marshal trim level on the bluebuck sounds like the chevy approach to carbirth.
    seems plausible

I'd personally add a small village/town near the "airport" with a few shops, houses, gas station, municipal building (combines police/fire/courthouse/etc) and a motel. I might also make some parts of the canyons a state/national park or something.

Looking at the ECUSA post, my suspicions are confirmed.

Retaining the original road layouts of maps is a must for retro-compatibility. I wouldn't expect any roads to be removed, however additional roads, as shown in the post, don't cause issues. I am curious as to how much the maps are expanded. ECA has a lot of empty space, same with Utah and JRI. Port has the entire mainland part of the map unused.

It's a less damaging for me when there aren't mysteriously barriers on all the roads on map limits.

Personally I love a road that lets you yeet your car off the map

On the whole roadblock front, I personally prefer the broken bridge on Utah or the landslide on the Automation Test Track. Any map would logically have roads connecting to other places, and it's best to make the situation that prevents you from leaving believable.

For a game with no story and incredible freedom, the Devs have managed to ground each map incredibly well with very believable obstacles preventing leaving

We already have “Value” slots for all the parts, so it very well may be this. We also may have gameplay mechanics for parting cars, pulling parts, etc.

Something like a late-production Bluebuck with extra chrome, fancier wheels and a 353 standard, optionally with a 423.

I'm going to throw out a theory out here, and say the bubu might be out for 0.17, but most likely 0.18.

I did say the 7L V12 part kinda as a joke, but you got to agree it would be hilarious to at least have a v12 version of the wendover, or maybe someone could make that a mod. The SBR-4 is realistic, but the fact that a 2.5 liter boxer 4 cylinder engine can make over 900 Horsepower just by slapping on a behemoth of a turbo... Is that truly realistic? Ehh, I'm joking again, but this is to prove a point sorta. You can have realistic versions of a car, and then just somewhere hidden in the menus, BOOM: Huge engine which makes huge power, in a car that only a lunatic would try to put in a car. Either that or a professional racing team... Also... That had a V8. Makes no sense to me, but it's different and it worked. Sorta.(Image courtesy of Hagerty)

3 liter 2JZs and 2.6 liter RB26s can make 1000 hp with a really big turbo and aftermarket heads, and they're both late 80s designs. There's no reason why a much more modern 2.5 liter couldn't make similar numbers with similar tuning. Also, good luck fitting a V12 in a transverse engine bay :p
