It was already known that the new Supra's were underrated in terms of power figures. But it turns out they can also beat out the BMW Z4 in a drag race. I find it kinda surprising BMW was ok with that, regardless, its pretty cool.

Yep, they have some fairly nice alloys under them though, removing them is a very popular mod (and trivial to do). They are there for aerodynamics.

Sidenote: I actually saw a Tesla Model 3 yesterday. I was in Cambridge for the day, and stumbled across a Tesla shop inside a shopping centre. They had one sitting there in a really nice blue paint. It took me by surprise because they have only just arrived on British shores.

Should have checked out the brick and mortar raspberry pi store on the floor above round corner from the Tesla store. Always seemed weird sticking a Tesla dealership inside a shopping mall.

Housemates tesla model 3 is due shortly, though Tesla aren't fulfilling orders in order and are being super vague about timings, he's within the first 250 orders place, yet 300 cars have been delivered and another 1500 are due in UK soon, none are his. Though hes seen one in our town (only half hour from Cambridge) and did the good old creepy follow where it's going just to have a chat with the owner XD

Ive recently seen a model 3 too but i dont really like the design. But whats good about the design is that they tried to make it look like a normal car not like the i3 or something like that

I did go into the raspberry pi store. It was nice to see all of the additional components in person, lots of cool stuff in there. But honestly the raspberry pi isn't really for me. I have one, but have never found a compelling reason to use it, especially since it's a first gen b model. I think it's mostly because I already own a laptop and desktop that can do everything I could need a pi to do. I've had a lot more use out of my Arduboy since game development is my thing, and I can easily develop natively for it, rather than having to deal with a big os such as Linux running on limited hardware.

For me, Teslas look too normal. For example,,the Model S looks like a Mondeo or Insignia competitor, not an S-Class or 7-Series one.

IMO Its got that trademark silicon valley design ethos. Which I think is probably about right for their target audiences. Something minimal and ever so slightly futuristic looking, but designed to rock as few boats as possible.

That said, in the showroom the Model 3 looked very slick. Since they had it in a really nice dark blue colour with the LED lights turned on. Clearly they have put a fair amount of effort into how they wish to present their brand and products, all the way down to the lighting and colour palette used in the showroom.

I guess its like how Audi makes all their dealerships look very similar to another, with coffee bar type things, and workspaces inside them. Whereas with a brand like Kia, its often just a bunch of cars in whatever low rent building they could find, with some red paint splashed roughly somewhere on the outside.

To be fair, the leaps in performance through pi generations are monumental. 700mhz Arm11 single core to 900mhz cortex A7 quad core to 1.2(later 1.4)GHz cortex a53 to now a 1.5ghz a72 and options for 1/2/4gb ram, plus the built in WiFi in later generations and now native gigabit Ethernet rather than the crapp
Housemates just asked, was it a left hand drive demo model or right hand drive, apparently they've had a US market one since December

I didn't check at the time, but now that I think about it, it may well have been a LHD model. Since I did have a look at the interior (through the windows).
Welp, I guess it was still nice to see one, even if it wasn't quite what I thought it was :p

Remember the early days of the forums when I was an obsessive crazy with an "Australian built or nothing!" attitude?
Well just a bit of an update on my mindset :p
Paid 18k for this brand new back in 2016 because I needed a "responsible adult car", something fuel efficient & reliable.
Honestly I have to say after 3 years, I love this car. Also the next generation Mazda6 is going RWD so its safe to say
thats my next car, so.. I guess Im a Mazda guy now xD

Mazda seems to be on a roll at the moment imo. I've not driven any of them, so I could be totally off base, but on paper their engines look pretty compelling. Getting good fuel economy, without resorting to 1l engines. The interiors seem really nicely put together too from having sat in them.

With that said, I have had the misfortune to have sat in the rear seats of some of the current generation Mazda's, and they are not a comfortable place for an adult to be. Leg room and head room seems to be fairly compromised compared to other vehicles of the same classification. But I think Mazda is trying to make cars that look cool and drive nicely, rather than super practical cars that adults can fit in the back of, so they seem to be doing a good job of that.

Yeah the new 3 looks absolutely fantastic, I've actually been meaning to take one for a test drive to compare it.

You have a totally valid point on that, Im 6ft and I sat in the back of mine for a short journey late last year & it was terrible. Its a very fun & zippy car to drive but sitting in the back is like torture to a normal sized adult.

I gotta say, I really love the direction Mazda is going. New straight-six is apparently going in the RWD Mazda 6. That'll be fun.

I6 engines need to be saved. Many people today have forgotten, or even never knew they exist.

Modified my ELM327 OBD dongle to have MSCAN as well as HSCAN support, via a hs/ms switch. Now I can control my power running boards, HVAC, power seats, sunroof, etc from my laptop.
