Speaking of BMW grilles, I'd be interested to see what the average size of the 80s kidney grilles difference to the modern-day kidney grilles

    an oof

Our car remained unscathed, but got covered in some mud.
Has anybody living near Brno got any info on that accident - what happened next, were there victims?

imo, its a stunning looking car.

For a second I thought it was a Jesko meets Ferrari, not a Lotus.

I've seen a lot of people online claiming that it doesn't look like a Lotus.
I don't really get that notion, personally I think it looks a lot like the Evora, it shares many of the shapes and lines of that car. But in my eyes, it integrates them far more elegantly.

I'm also incredibly happy to see Lotus with an actual Halo car. Something that really shows what the brand is capable of, that will hopefully allow them to compete with Porsche in terms of badge prestige. With the resources of Geely behind them, they now have the funding to produce cars that look current gen, and have the features that people expect from an expensive sports car. Lotus has been seen as a dirty word for far too long imo.

I put a horn in the bronco, just some cheap pair off amazon
I gotta get my hands on some RED TEK R12a stop leak to repair the AC, I have 2 cans of R12 I'm going to put in. refilling with the R12 I have or R12a is dramatically cheaper than an R134a retrofit.

I agree, I find it to be very stunning to look at, and I can already imagine it being quite the experience to drive. Also like the headlights. While I do see the afterburner design of the taillights, I also see goggles and the eyes of a superhero/supervillain mask/helmet.

I get Ferrari LaFerrari vibes from it, especially around the roofline.

Like what @aljowen said, I also see a resemblance to the Evora too. It's almost like a blend of the Evora and LaFerrari.

Frankly, I can't see an electric car ever being a true Lotus. Heavy batteries, no noise, no gears... what's the point? "My Maytag is faster than your Whirlpool?" The entire appeal of Lotus was that they did things differently.

A gross oversimplification of my point. Just as an example: how do heavy frickin' batteries fit in with the lightweight philosophy that has always driven Lotus? I mean, they got their start from something that was barely more than a go-kart with some bodywork, and it made up for its lack of power by weighing almost nothing. For years, all the way up until they launched the Evora, they only did lightweights and track specials, and even once they launched, and started upgrading, the Evora, it was still the car for someone who didn't want just another Porsche or Corvette that everyone else already had two of. Now they're building... yet another overblown me-too "green" hypercar. Because that's all this really is. "Hey look, we can be super woke too, see!" I mean seriously. 2000 horsepower? 1.7 mil? All electric? What part of that is Lotus? To me it doesn't even look like a Lotus, just a "generic hypercar". You could have said it was from Grand Theft Auto, and I'd have believed you.

Obviously, it is rather heavy for a Lotus, but the Evija is also considerably lighter than any other comparable car. So I would argue that the philosophy of "add lightness" is still very much there. Since to make it as light as it is, will have taken significant effort.

I mean, its an electric hypercar that weighs about the same as a Porsche 911.

Lightweight body, electric acceleration, instant torque... a match made in heaven. Makes me think of stuff like the old Cobras.

They are also claiming it will charge to 80% in 12mins on a 350kw charger. And that it supports up to 800kw.

Chargers of that performance (350kw) don't really exist yet, but they are set to start rolling out in 2020. So hopefully this sort of technology will trickle down to more regular cars.
