Ok so awhile back my friend gave me this engine for free. I asked him for details on it but all he knew was that it came off of a moped. I didn't do much to it other than clean the carb and change the spark plug. I have no idea what model or what it even is. I don't even know if it came off of a moped myself. There are no markings on the engine other than a mark on the cover that says "Kick starter" So anyone know what the heck i'm working with?

Well, there's a huge clue it came from a moped in that the thing is still attached to a mopeds swing arm

The swing arm is a part of the engine. I don't think it can be removed. When I look at the swing arm, its welded to the base of the engine

    if it's off a moped it's probably a generic chinese 50cc engine

Yes but point is, it's still attached to a moped swing arm, so it clearly didn't come from a car

I searched up images of those awhile back. They look nothing alike aside from the long arm off the engine

You didn't look very hard. Any vespa style moped typically has the engine directly mounted on the swingarm like that

That is a perfect example of a moped engine still attached to its swingarm

Outside of the swing arm thing, what I meant is the engine doesn't look like the ones I see in pictures. Heres what I find when I look at moped engines

But the engne I have for some reason looks similar to something like this

I did find some interesting information on the carburetor though. On the carburetor there is a marking that says "DEKNI" which I assume is the brand. And on the other side it has a marking that says "UA17". I was looking around at "Dekni" carburetors but none of them matched up to what carb I have. Even when I attempted to track down the UA17 id thing.

That's because you're looking at new moped engines, that's just an oldie.

Carb wise. Company is actually DENI, but a lot of Chinese fakers fake it as DEKNI as there's a funky icon in the middle of the real DENI logo they've misunderstood.
It really is just an old Chinese moped engine.

Hmm I look around for "Vintage moped engines" and just pictures of mopeds come up. Where can I find pictures of actual engines?
