The Mazda Cosmo is nice, but it's not done yet. I'd recommend waiting until it is able to be finished. The 90s Kashira definitely belongs here. The 80s isn't as polished though. And while we're on the topic of shameless self-advertisment, my engine mods add some variety to some of the more neglected vehicles. Personally I don't think they're must-have, but if they pass your muster feel free to put some in.
https://www.beamng.com/threads/toyota-ae86-trueno-levin.52119/ And This Ibishu pessima jdm version: https://www.beamng.com/threads/ax53-tuning-d1-jdm-pessima.45953/
That's actually a relatively low quality mod. Not even close to the highest quality BeamNG mod in history...
How is the AE86 mod the "highest quality in BeamNG Drive mod history"? Just because a mod is released on the forums doesn't mean it's automatically a high-quality mod. In this case, the AE86 uses models and textures from other games, meaning they aren't 100% scratch-made; even the JBeam structure is sourced from the 200BX. Some people classify it as a mesh-slap or low-quality mod. Therefore, it's not a must-have for everyone, using Crimson's criteria: Likewise, the Mazda RX-7 FD, the Ford Mustang S550, the Nissan Skyline ER34, and the My Summer Car Satsuma mods are ineligible for must-have mods as they also use models and textures from other games, as well as the JBeam structures taken from the official content vehicles in some way.
If I may, https://beamng.com/resources/dunewulffs-config-pack.2710/ I love the weird variety of cars in DuneWulff's pack. There's rustbuckets, rally cars, and a bunch of other weirdos each with their own characteristics and personalities. I'd link Wulff's Wide Open but I'm still working on it, huge detailed map = massive time sink. :/
WDYM? Rx7 does not work and R34 is outdated. And is there any other mods that have real time working clock ? NO
A working clock isn't that impressive, there are a few WIP mods that have one as well, which I unfortunately cannot name at the request of their creator. The AE86 really isn't good, it looks kinda nice, but it has issues with parts from the 200BX showing up and clipping with it because it uses a 200BX Jbeam, it has independent rear suspension rather than live axle because it uses a 200BX Jbeam, and generally handles and crashes weird. I believe an exception could be made for the Satsuma, after all, it's meant to be the MSC Satsuma, there's no reason not to use it's model, and unlike every other meshslap, it was used with permission from the MSC developer. It also used to use a modified Covet Jbeam, but it's pretty much unique now, and is pretty high quality.
Fanboying a car doesnt work here buddy. Just because there is a mod for your fav car, it doesnt mean its best. No offence to @schumacher, but his charmand mod was much higher quality than ae
Sure the AE86 mod has a working clock in-game, but I compared it to the FD RX-7 and Skyline R34 because all three mods have something in common: they aren't scratch-made in terms of the models, textures, and JBeam structures. The same can be said for the S550 Mustang mod. You do have a point, but it's all up to CrimsonCrocodile to decide if the MSC Satsuma should be a must-have mod for everyone.
I would say the Satsuma is an exception from the rule. Despite the mesh not being scratch made it has a heap of effort put into it, the poly flow is good and it has a bunch of cool features. I'll update this thread in the hopefully not too distant future.
Low quality, in what way? Decent Jbeam, custom sounds, ton of variations, detailed interior and gauges etc works. I don't want to fight about if it's the best or not, but calling it low quality is just not true. Also this is not about "the best mods ever created in gaming" it's about "must have mods for new players." The AE86 is certainly not a bad mod to have.
You're right, I admit low-quality was not the best way of describing it, it's certainly not a bad mod. However, that's not to say it doesn't have its own issues. e.g. suspension is completely wrong for what the car is, meshes don't line up... Although its been quite a while since I've used it, so I'll have to test it again and possibly reconsider. However, if it's still the same as how I remember it's probably still not worthy of a spot on the list. After all this is 'must-have' mods, not 'relatively decent' mods. The difficult thing is there aren't really any clear guidelines as what defines a mod as good or not, it's open to interpretation as to what defines a 'must-have' mod for you. I'm open to debate if you still feel like my judgement is unfair, as the list is based around community feedback
It has actually been a while since I tested it myself, I just don't remember it as bad other than some small funky things here and there. I understand where you're coming from, and your points. After all, it would be a long list if you had to include every vehicle A new test/reconsideration of it would never hurt I suppose, and I'll test it myself again as well once I get the chance.
Is this thread still alive? If so... https://www.beamng.com/resources/phoulkon-ciws.10397/ (might be heavy mod to run) https://www.beamng.com/resources/oldsfullsize-wheels-pack-and-other-options.10198/ https://www.beamng.com/resources/car_killer-showroom-pack.6350/ (lots of good maps for taking screenshots, would recommend checking out) https://www.beamng.com/resources/season-pack.7564/ https://www.beamng.com/resources/wld-fs30-2-diesel-electric-locomotive.7960/
It's been dead for a while, definitely in need of an update. I'm on holidays now so I'll update it when I have some free time, hopefully later this week
