Please note that this is an opinion i have, i will respect yours as you respect mine

I have been on the forums since... roughly 2015 (registered an account shortly after from memory)
However, the mod quality since then has decreased significantly and why i think the quality control should be stronger.

firstly there are many many mod out at this time that just dont work/ never get updated for the latest version of the game (there are reasonable answers to that such as being unable to work on it, people have a life outside of Beam.NG)

Secondly the mods that are being produced are low quality in many aspect such as mesh, Jbeam and/or realistic handling. and even the modelling is awful on some these.

lastly, the mod makers are not double checking and bug testing their mods (you know who you are)
the amount of bugs i have seen in recent mods is incredible, i don't understand how the developer or the testers (if any) don't catch them or correct them at all, there are mods that basic Jbeam edits fixes the issues.

And again, this is an opinion on the state of the forums and modding in general.

To add on, i think the moderators should look into the quality of the mods, i understand if that cant happen due to staffing/ volunteer limitations and the time limitations of the team to develop this master piece of a sim.

    Please think about these points:
    • All of these mods are made in people's spare time
    • All these mods are made for free
Just with those two points, I would not pretend them to be to dev-standards, because free stuff.
Then everybody has different preference on what they want, and that's where you decide what you want to download or not.
Some people like odd mods, other not, and so on.

IMHO high-quality expectation/pretending applies mainly if you were paying for content/mods.

The mod control we do is basic: check if the mod actually works, does not break other stuff, does not contain offensive stuff, etc.
A working mod won't be rejected because the person does not have the skills to do something 'better'

If you find bugs in a mod that the author (or others) did not catch, you can always make them notice that.

I agree with that, and as i stated that the people *do* have lives outside of modding, i just think that the quality of mods' bar needs to be raised because back in say, 2017 there were some incredible mods, but now we have some really mediocre mods, + with mods of the good content creators getting banned and unable to publish content anymore, i think that the forums is becoming stale.. in a sense

i'm here to present a theory:
    high quality mods take time
    example:
    fintray roadster:
other than the author being generally busy irl he is working to make it as realistic as possible, which takes time

It's probably stale from your point of view, not everyone elses.

There's plenty of good mods, and most people know good mods take time. There wasn't a time when mods were better quality, I just think there's more mods in general now so it might seem like it.

It might also be a bit of psychology stuff going on. you can look retrospectively, and you have an immediate list of all of the mods released/updated from, say 2015-17, whereas mods coming out currently seem to take time, because you don't have to wait.
I would suggest that the actual average time span between the release of "good" mods is pretty consistent.

Is everyone an vehicle engineer? no?
    End of story.

This isnt the reason for russian clickblyat stuff.
but its the case for all my stuff. and its still the same problem for mostly everyone on the forum.

I just hope the new wiki will bring a lot of stuff to light.

i agree with you all, hopefully the wiki will be updated with information that everyone can use, put to use and make better content with it.

for the click-blyat mods, thats a whoooole different category because they were meant to be bad from the get-go to mask malware, clickbait so the website gets more popular and then encouraging stealing legitimate mods in an attempt to gain popularity among the younger fans of BeamNG.Drive
    --- Post updated ---
the influx of new members did help to that in my opinion, and then some of the much better mods being buried

What I think should happen is that when devs find a new mod of outstanding quality, that mod should be showcased more and flagged as such. This could reward hardworking modders and encourage more effort going into the mods. Recognize these hardworking modders as the community heroes they are.

The clock is ticking for all of us. Making a high quality mod takes a tremendous amount of time, skill and
effort. Our time is very precious so obviously more high end modders are bound to go for patreon support
(or the like) to compensate for the energy that is spend on them. I am doing the math in my head right now
aaand.. it aall figures ! :)

edit - I myself am not a high end modder. Could be one but I simply lack the time.

    I agree with that,

I know how hard it is to make good mods as i make mods privately for myself and trusted friends of mine, modeling, jbeaming and ensuring poly flow + mesh are correct

The way I see it is this. Most of the older modders on the site have either been: Banned, Left, Lack of motivation, Lack of time and the loss of "I personally believe that the automation update makes all non automation mods pointless" people. Now this does not mean that there are no more good modders it's just that many of the older modders have stopped uploading mods for the above reasons. Yes good mods take a lot of time but the amount of great modders on the site that are active have droped since the Automation update due to unrealistic fears and rumors. This is just my 2 cent's and observation since 2015 and take it with a grain of salt. I do not know any modders nor do I mod since I lack any artistic ability and J-beam building ability.
