Update Speculation thread

FIrewatch tower on ECA means there could be some scenarios involving the fire chief Roamer

 

0.17 update will be awesome indeed. Just that I am personally worried about optimisation and performance of the maps for my low-end system - if these maps will run as well as Utah, then it will be great, but anyways... I can't wait for the update, as it makes the Hirochi Raceway to feel like a proper racetrack, like in WCU from the video shown, whilst also, this update will allow us to experience a more satisfactory and realistic representation of East Coast of USA, as roads, models (trees, houses and various props) seem to be more stereotypical to that area to create that feeling. Lastly, I believe that more people, including myself, will be using Derby map much more often - not only it looks better, but it includes scenery, instead of some void, that makes it immersive just by looking at that video, but also includes a new track (or tracks) that makes it more usable if player wants to do something different.

 

Firewatch towers are usually owned by the forest service and such rather than a municipal or county fire department. The fire chief roamer is clearly representative of the latter pair. However, BeamNG will supposedly feature a "Ranger" character, hinting at the inclusion of some sort of a forest service, as he clearly looks to be a park ranger. The inclusion of a fire watch tower may indicate that a portion of ECA is within a park or other of type of government owned land, which would make sense given the map location and the vast swaths of uninhabited land.

A concern of mine is that only ECA, Hirochi Raceway and Derby Arenas may be updated. This seems odd, as back in November WIP screenshots of Industrial Site, Port, and Small Island were shown alongside WIP Derby Arenas. It would be odd to leave those three maps in their extremely outdated forms. Hopefully BeamNG is keeping them under wraps to avoid even more hype than has already been created, but if 0.17 doesn't include those maps as well I will be somewhat confused. BeamNG's wording on their Twitter and YouTube is confusing, as the former seems to state that only ECA, Hirochi Raceway and Derby Arenas will be updated, yet the latter seems to say that those maps will be included, but seems more open ended. Developer clarification on this would be much appreciated.

 

I personally think theres a high chance of the update getting released tomorrow. I might be wrong but i think there was a situation with a Bus update when they released the wentward trailer the same day the update dropped? i might be wrong tho. even tho i still think the update is literally around the corner

Im going to be sceptic here ans say that this update is not going to be tomorrow. If im wrong then call me out on it. As for the Bluebuck, im starting to think it may not be on this update.
the map upgrades look amazing. That was one of the few times in my life ive been truly breathtaken by something. ECUSA is going to look so much better. I dare to say even better than even WCUSA. ECUSA doesnt suffer from the "Jack of all trades and master of non" that WCUSA has to deal with.
Im excited for this update, even if we dont get the Bluebuck.

 

If you look closely at the car behind the Barstow at the very end of the teaser, the next car looks a bit bigger and has some different parts than the Barstow (or the Moonhawk even). Could we have gotten a Bluebuck tease after all?

 

Might have to get your eyes checked because I believe it could be a Barstow with a different color. I doubt the mods would tease us that easily.

we were just discussing if it was the bluebuck dude, and after like 2 images we said it wasn't

 

I examined the video myself on best quality and 0.25 speed. Looks more to me like a blue version of the Awful Barstow configuration albeit the hood exhausts.

Does make me wonder though, when will the devs decide to reveal the Bluebuck? Is it going to be like the Hopper where its finished form was revealed just about a day before the update?

 

i feel like devs cant help themselves but to release pictures of the car in full before the update. either they are keeping this a surprise, (very unlikley) or the bluebuck is coming at a later date. (very likley) on another note, the map transformations looked much more realistic, like a GTA map
