its ok English is the hardest language, and yes it is a real tank here is a brief history of the btr 80, first developed in 1986 developed by the soviet union to replace the btr 70 and the btr 60 it was first deployed in the soviet afghan war and now for the specs The Soviets-based the BTR-80 on the BTR-70 APC. It has a single 260-hp, V-8 turbocharged, water-cooled, diesel engine, an improvement over the twin gasoline engines installed in the BTR-60 and BTR-70 vehicles. The reconfigured rear portion of the hull accommodates the new, single engine. The Soviets removed the roof chamfers of the modified BTR-70, raised the rear, and squared off the rearward-sloping engine compartment. Standard equipment includes TNPO vision blocks, TNP-B and TKN-3 optical devices for the driver and commander, an OU-3GA2M infrared search light, six 81 mm smoke grenade launchers 902V "Tucha", a radioset (R-173 or R-163-50U), an intercom, and hydrojets for amphibious propulsion.,yes i did barrow the specs form wikipedia cause i didn't feel like writing it all here is the link if you wanna read all about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTR-80
Oh, you've noticed this trend too? The last available version (from 2016) was very outdated and broken and does not reflect the experience I'd like people to have with the mod. Please be patient and wait for the new version, big things are in progress . So just to give everyone an update, a lot of progress has occurred. I have been putting many many hours into this project and have accomplished a lot since the last time I posted. I completely finished 3d modelling the exterior and did almost all of the UV mapping (took quite a few days to map it all) and have since put the new model in the game. I am currently in the process of a massive jbeam overhaul. I have already reworked the suspension to be more realistically simulated using torsion beams to represent the torsion bar suspension on the real BTR. I also built a completely new, jbeam for the body with some more node points to help prevent environment objects (rocks and trees) from going inside the vehicle as they did with the previous low density jbeam. This should also provide a little better deformation for medium dents especially on the front, rear and fender edges. I have also jbeamed some of the exterior parts to allow them to move as they do on the real one, but I'll show more on that later. Don't worry though, this will not be an unnecessarily high detail jbeam (like some 8x8 mods ) and will still remain relatively simple overall, so there shouldn't be any performance troubles for those of you with lower spec PCs . If you can run various versions of the T75 ok than the BTR should run fine. I'm not ready to show pictures yet because right now it's a big NO MATERIAL mess since I haven't made or set up all of the textures. But progress will continue hopefully as quickly as it has been going, and while there's plenty more to do (more jbeam work, textures, modelling the interior, etc.) It will hopefully not take too much longer. Please be a little patient and hopefully I'll have something more visual to post soon.
Daaaamn, throwin some shade at CrashHard I see Anyways, glad to see that the jbeam will be a bit more complicated, and that we will see better deformation and a better model. Will it be using custom engine sounds, or just the stock T-Series sounds? And will more parts be detachable, like the shields and rear door perhaps? Along with the turret too, maybe? Also another thing, will we get more tire options? Perhaps mudders or something for hooning around in the mud?
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for the hard work that went into the CrashHard big rig mod, it's just... the number of nodes and beams.... you know. (My I7-7700 nearly choked to death ) Anyway, deformation should be improved, but it will still remain very strong and hard to deform. Its an armored vehicle after all, and may even be stronger than it should be, but that's the way it's always been and that's how I want it. It's made to destroy other things, not to be crashed. It will have more detachable parts though, at least some of the less important exterior parts. I'm pretty sure the turret can already be broken off, it's just extremely hard to do so because it's mounted really strongly. As for engine sounds, I'm not sure what I'm doing for that yet. It already has old custom engine sounds based on the old simple s-beam system, but these use spintires sound samples. I really like these current sounds, but obviously they wouldn't be allowed on the repository, so I'll have to decide what I'm going to do about the sounds at some point. I'd really rather not just use the plain T-series sounds because they sound too much like a city bus for my liking. Also there are no plans for any optional tires currently, but the standard tires are already quite capable off road and in muddy conditions.
?? May 11 wasn’t that long ago, nobody said it was dead, and to quote the author’s information page, "Just because I haven't logged in in a while, doesn't mean that I don't check the forums daily"
Bruh you do this with every thread that isn’t posted on for more than 2 weeks to a month. Have a little faith in @Reactor_4aec, he’s definitely still working on it.
hence the word "probably". I personally like to think a mod is dead, let it go and be positively surprised that it got an update rather than have faith for every mod and be let down if the mod never gets updated. you might do differently and that's ok.
