my blackbox made me do it i swear honestly i accelerate really slowly... maybe i will do a 2nd gear to redline pull once i have passed my driving test.. Also today had a lesson with a different driving instructor, we get on really well he is a bit of a car enthusiast but damn i was so jerky with the clutch and a bit of a nightmare really, approaching junctions he says go dead slow and its nice and smooth which is fair enough but i focused so much on that i forgot simple things like indicating when i exit roundabouts and accidentally gave way to the left... like two types of junctions.. walkers or joggers (5mph vs 10mph), i think he wants to start off a bit slow but that is fair enough.. his car does this odd thing where if you let the throttle off slowly, it very slowly shuts the throttle at the end of the travel (like the transition from like 5% to 0% is nice and slow) where on my jazz it is instant no matter what you do so be prepared for dipping the clutch to make sure the shock is kept in the engine and not through the wheels.. This meant i was dipping the clutch quite a few times where i didn't need to.. I'm more talking about how you thought it was "sad" that people wanted to go 100 MPH - in a place where that is, for now, perfectly legal no less - and think 60 is "perfectly adequate" for any class of car.

I mean, his friends aren't even plotting to break the Sacred Speed Limit, in fact they're willing to travel across multiple countries to find a place without one, and he thinks that's sad, and that even 70 is too fast. Honestly, I side with you. Looks to me like the driver in the Hyundai didn't notice you. It almost makes me wonder why there isn't some kind of sign there. I do have a question, outside of what I see in the pictures, how serious is the damage to your car?
I repeat my question because clearly you don't understand at all. Am I not allowed to enjoy a smooth and quiet ride? Is that seriously outlawed in your ideal world? Am I not allowed to appreciate a cars qualities while stationary? I learned to drive in a Honda Jazz too. They are quite happy to sit at 70mph on a dual carriageway. I'm not sure I would want to take one to 90, but the car would probably deal with it ok. I just don't think it would be a comfortable speed for a Jazz. I find it quite interesting how different different cars are to pass your driving licence in. In a petrol Honda jazz when accelerating from stationary, you have to find the biting point between the throttle and clutch etc to get moving. However, my sister is learning in a diesel Renault clio, and in that car you can slowly release the clutch and the car will start crawling without stalling, no throttle required. The jazz also had other quirks like not always accepting reverse gear first time.
My mechanic says he thinks it should be pretty straight forward to repair, but he hasn't given it a full inspection yet (Small shop & its the best in the region so he has a shitload of cars to work on). Unsure on how much the damage is worth yet. Car is insured for $18,700.00 so it'll definitely be less than that.

I love speed as much as the next guy, but a nice cruise is always welcome, especially after a hard day's work. My "cruising speed" is around 80mph, but hey ho. My Mustang doesn't even feel like it's stressing at that speed. I don't dare drive my Jeep that fast, though. The confidence just isn't there. 70mph in that thing feels like a death trap. One of these days I'll end up killing myself going too fast. But that's just the way I want it to be. A smile on my face as I go ass first right off a cliff.
Yeesh I didn't realise my post caused an argument.. I'm only trying to save a bit of money on fuel me being as stingey as I am.. I will happily go the speed limit.. And one day I will max out the car, but I don't see the point in driving it to the limit for say a solid half an hour.. Just drop back to a comfortable speed.. Not that it's too hard to go the speed limit, or intimidating or whatever.. I just wanted to save a bit of fuel and my ears If I'm not in a rush, and there are no cars behind me, do I really need to push to the speed limit? Might aswell sit around 40-50mph or thereabouts saving fuel, less drag, and I can slow down from 40-50 into a 30mph speed limit without using brakes.. Win win! I have before when I'm pushed for time gone for the speed limit, overtaking vehicles on A roads.. It's not the end of the world, just the fuel consumption increases quite sharply.. 45-47mpg real at 60mph 43mpg at 70.. Probably around 50mpg at 55 ish mph.. These cars are like MPVs for aerodynamics not the best..!
I finally had a good chance to go out and see what impact the 3 different ESC/TCS settings have on the focus st. Got normal, sport, or press and hold the button for off. Seems sport shifts up the active torque vectoring a bit, tells ESC to back off and massively reduced traction control. Off turns ESC and traction control off (who'd'a'thunk) but does leave the torque vectoring in its aggressive mode. ESC difference can barely feel between sport and off. TCS in sport is already practically off. But you really can feel the inside corner braking which is almost unnoticeable in normal. Car just feels like it's bunkering down into a corner, but in a non intrusive way, just feels as if it's truly a well setup car rather than an electronic nanny. Overall I'm loving the car. Boyfriend loves it less. Ride is a little harsher where it has harder suspension (I like it personally, I find most conditions it still rides better than the Subaru but then it's a much much newer setup and not so worn), bucketed seats really hold you tight, very comfortable. But boyfriends small and likes to fidget, he's like too short for the seat bolsters to go under his arms properly. A mate is "too large" so delegated himself to the back, where he does at least fit. Also the under arm cubby is perfect for a minidisc player Overall though. Loving the car. Practical, yet lairy enough to have some fun

Well, the law is no different in the US. According to the Ring, it is private property. If that is correct*, they have every right to throw out anyone who they do not wish to do business with (unless it is for a protected reason according to US law). Most major tracks worldwide don't allow commercial filming without a media licence. That isn't to say that I think the ring made a good decision, since that channel brings a lot of good publicity to them. *I don't know the accuracy of their claims (they might be correct, they may be wrong, idk), since the Nordshliefe is kinda sorta privately managed public road afaik? I'm not totally sure on how that works.
if i went and filmed the boyne toll bridge in ireland i doubt the gardai would be after me because it's a toll bridge
As a German i must say yes we arent allowed to have fun the only fun things we have is the Autobahn (theyre working on changing that) and the internet (they already did something about that). Now thanks to the Eco´s and Fridays for Future people wich drive cars are on the same rank as Criminals at least to a certain goverment agency.
That's a little bit different though isn't it? The toll road will either be government ran, or operated on behalf of the government by a private contractor. Or something along those lines, I haven't really paid much attention to how you do that sort of stuff in Ireland. The Nordschleife is a racetrack that is from what I can tell owned by the chairman of a large Russian pharmaceutical company.
