Hey! I just wanted to drop in and thank the dev team for a spectacular update to the assets around Derby, Hirochi Raceway, and especiallyn ECUSA! The sawmill is the piece de resistance for me this update (well, unless you count the Bluebuck, but that's a post in and of itself). In fact, I love each one of the new assets, with a sole exception that I'd really like to see altered: This new version of the swamp shack (left) is... really a dud as far as I'm concerned. I feel like it ought to be replaced with something more closely following the pattern of the original (right) for several reasons A) The style of house makes no sense given its apparent age and surroundings The new house is a two-story, multi-room house with extras like an uncovered porch and window shutters. Excluding the curious lack of a chimney, it appears to have been constructed sometime between 1850 and 1960, but the level of wear leads me to believe it's on the newer end of that range. The size, style, and materials all point to a house that was relatively expensive to construct. So why would anyone build an expensive house in what is clearly a low-lying, heavily forested area full of stagnant water? Generally anyone who built a house like this during this era did so on better land (within a town, with a seaside view, on top of a hill at the farm that made them wealthy), instead of within a swamp where few people would want to be. Now, the small, older cabin had any number of plausible reasons to be there - it could formerly have belonged to a poor-dirt farmer who struggled financially (and therefore could not have built a large house) because of the poor land. It could have been put up by a trapper or hunter. It could have been erected as part of a semi-permanent logging camp. It could even have been the property of a crazy hermit who sought to get away from everybody else. But there is one explanation that I particularly cling to: B) Beamng needs a Moonshiner's Hideout in ECUSA Take a look at these renders for ambience. Compare them to the old and new versions of the swamp house, noting the covered porch, exposed wood, and low-slung profile of the building itself. Remember that the location of the swamp house is particularly secluded and hard to find - nearly invisible from both of the nearby roads. It would be a perfect spot if you were brewing prohibited alcohol. Now, given the many, well-documented, and varied contributions that the act of bootlegging made to cementing American car culture in general and hot rodding in particular, as well as the history concerning moonshining/bootlegging in the U.S. northeast in general and Maine in particular, I think we have a perfect storm of reasons to include a shack like that in the Maine map of our car-focused game. There is great story potential for use in campaigns or career mode (ex: playing a 'flashback' campaign inside of career mode where an old stock car driver goes into detail about their bootlegging years). C) The Current House Need Not be Wasted I have to respect the time and effort it took to design, model, texture, and insert the current asset into the game. I think it also has story potential of its own - although I definitely believe that it leans towards 'haunted house' to the exclusion of everything else. I'd like to propose moving it to this corner cut off by the river - to a spot where a well-to-do individual might have built a house just for the view. I haven't been able to find anything of interest in this area as of yet, so moving the white house with the flickering light there could provide incentive for players to visit the area. In any case, this is ultimately just my opinion on a design choice - although I do hold it fairly strongly on this particular subject. I really feel like adding in a new 'cabin' styled building (especially with that covered porch), and moving the big house elsewhere would be a very good addition to the game.

I'm suprised no one ever mentioned this post. Could this somehow imply engine 'jake' brakes will be getting implemented?
Is anyone else having issues getting their mods to load? The game seems to load in safe mode everytime i load the game, yet in the menu it says that all my mods are active, yet no maps or mods appear in-game. Does the unpacked folder still work? havent been able to play beamng since 0.17.1 because no mods works. Im also getting an extremely bad stutter when opening beamng. Like, im in the MAIN MENU, and windows will freeze/hang for a few seconds. It happened so badly once that i ended up having to restart my laptop because even after beamng was closed windows was getting frozen every few seconds. and i mean, i cant even move my mice kinda freezing. I try to look at the task manager when this happens, for some reason i get some spikes on my integrated intel graphics everytime i get a freeze. but beamng is running off of my nvidia graphics card.... Once while frozen i was using my scroll wheel and windows ended up screaming at me. (beeeping) Any idea whats going on? <EDIT> So i remove most of my unpacked mods. Mods works fine its something messing up in my unpacked directory. gotta find what it is. 1st time its happened to me tho. absolutely no mods showed up in-game even tho the game clearly said it found all 48 of my mods. Will have to investigate this one after work.
When are you guys going to get the hotfix 2 out? Really pissing me off not be able to play beamng because of gpu crashing when restarting... Especially when huge update came out... can't wait to play. :/
Hey v.vehkala, if you really want to play, just do what I did. Do ctrl r and never use r until its fixed
im having problems with hubcabs for the 4 slot 13x5 front wheels. when spawned, they wont appear and when selected, allmost all hubcabs are invisible, does anyone else have this? (tested in safe mode)
Often times, fire departments and ambulances have text facing this direction so when someone looks in their rear view mirror they are able to read the text. So the answer to your question would be yes
For 2 days i have a problem with mods. When I enter the game in level selector i have only stock maps and some of them without a picture. But the game shows me on the main screen what i have 302 mods. And after that, i will go to repository click activate all mods. And only after that, all mods appeared. Same with cars.
