New Version has broken Xbox controller for me

Updated game via Steam. Now my Xbox controller is seen in the game as a device, but the game doesn't respond to any input, I looked in the settings of the game and it is listed, but none of the buttons or controls show movement in the control screen. What am I doing wrong?

Also, i have an Xbox one controller that isn't recognized by the game is there a way to make it work as well?

I did a bit more troubleshooting, and discovered that Beam does not like my xbox controller being plugged into a USB3 port, I moved it to a USB2 port and control returned. Very strange.
