Clear Cache used to be simple and remove/restore a few key files and that was it, now though it seems a bit overblown - creating backups - hashing files (which cannot be re-acquired) it actually eats up disk space overtime after so many backups it creates. The whole process takes over 4 minutes to complete, maybe more depending on the type of files you have modified.

It would be good to have a simple Clear Cache function that takes less time, maybe 30 seconds and doesn't create backups or hash.

A simple clear cache and an advanced clear cache function would be cool

I agree with that. You're clearing cache for a reason, so having a backup of the broken state of the game isn't neccessary

The backup is there due some people complaining of getting their wip mods wiped, because they pressed that button without knowing what to expect.
To remove that risk, we don't delete anything now, but move any files that should not be there into a folder that the game does not load (the 'backup' folder).
It's up to you to inspect that folder, and delete things or not. Of course, if you just keep that backup folder around, it will grow of size every so often you use that function.

The file check is required to know what files can be moved safely, and what not.
For example you don't want to get your custom configuration removed.

The early version of this feature simply wiped away most folders in your userfolder (except for mods), without checking what it was removing.

You can always manually delete your cache from the userfolder anyway. Although it's not recommended.
